[Comparative evaluation of classical sinusotomy and endoscopic interventions on the maxillary sinus in odontogenic sinusitis with evaluation of the transporting function of ciliated epithelium and sinus aeration].

In 2002 a total of 98 patients were operated on for odontogenic sinusitis, 49 of these were operated on by endoscopic methods and the rest by classical methods. The transporting function of the epithelium in the nasal cavity and maxillary sinus and the maxillary sinus aeration were evaluated. Pneumatization of the sinus was completely restored and the transporting function of the ciliated epithelium was less disturbed in the patients operated on by the endoscopic method, that is, the mechanisms of maxillary sinus cleansing from secretions were retained, which led to stable cure.

Pheno- and genotyping the prescription of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.

Mutant alleles CYP2D63 and CYP2D64 were detected by PCR in 33 individuals. All examinees were given 50 mg methoprolol (orally). Plasma concentrations of the drug and its major metabolite was determined by high performance liquid chromatography and arterial pressure and heart rate were monitored. The rate of methoprolol metabolism was significantly lowered in subjects with CYP2D64 mutation. This determined blood pressure decrease and bradycardia in these subjects after drug intake.

[Surgical results in acute cholecystopancreatitis].

An analysis of results of the surgical treatment of 105 patients with acute cholecystopancreatitis has shown that abdominal peritonealization and resection of the necrotized part of the pancreas in combination with radical operations on bile ducts are the most substantiated operations in pancreonecrosis.

[Rate of lymph flow and the protein-electrolyte composition of the lymph from the thoracic duct in experimental acholia].

Experimental acholia was reproduced by applying a biliary fistula to the choledochus in cats for 20 days. It was established that acholia was accompanied by considerable changes in the lymph flow and in the protein-electrolyte composition of the lymph. The rate of the lymph flow in animals with acholia was more than 2 times as decreased as compared with control. The electrolyte and protein shifts in the lymph during acholia were manifested by the reduction in the lymph protein and K+ content.

[Post-traumatic regeneration of the epithelium of the gastric and intestinal mucous membranes of dogs].

The work was devoted to the study of the sources of reparative regeneration of the epithelium of the gastric and intestinal mucosa. A number of surgical interventions on the stomach and intestine of 1 dogs were performed for the solution of this problem. On the basis of the investigations carried out the leading role in the regeneration of the gastric and intestinal mucosa was found to be played by uninjured epithelium surrounding the area of the surgical intervention. This was confirmed by the fact that a mucosa-free intestinal pedicle graft implanted into the defect of the wall of the stomach was covered by gastric mucosa; a stomach graft devoid of own mucosa became covered with intestinal mucosa when displaced in the form of a cylindrical "insertion" into the intestinal tube; mucosa-free stomach pouch became obliterated; this could be reliably attributed to the absence of the main source of regeneration -- uninjured mucosal epithelium along the periphery of the defect. No regeneration of the epithelium of the gastric mucosa from the implanted cells was revealed; this served as an additional confirmation of the fact that regeneration under conditions of the mentioned experiments occurred on account of creeping of epithelial cells surrounding the area of the surgical intervention over the free surface of mucosa.
