The results of the use of angiography in the diagnosis of chronic mono-oligoarthritides are summarized. The author provides the data on 113 patients aged 2 to 50 years, in whom the diagnosis was confirmed histologically. Describes the angiographic appearance of synovial sarcoma, pigmented villonodular synovitis, juvenile chronic arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, tuberculous gonitis, chondromatosis, chondroblastomas, post-traumatic synovitis, hemangiomas, and reactive synovitis in the articular form of osteoid osteoma. The use of angiography improved the radiodiagnosis of mono-oligoarthritides by 45.8%. The conclusion is made that in accordance with indications, angiography may be used as a modality in the system of all-round examination of patients suffering from chronic mono-oligoarthritides.
By means of angiography, made in 20 patients with rigidity of the first toes due to osteoarthrosis, there have been revealed chronic deficiency of blood circulation in the foot tissues, especially in its antero-internal section. Blood circulation deficiency is due either to the congenital anomaly of the foot vessels or to the consequences of their traumatic injuries. Blood supply deficiency results in degenerative-dystrophic changes of the first metatarsophalangeal articulations with development of their rigidity, aggravated by post-ischemic contracture of the foot muscles.
The pathogenesis of dry gluteal necrosis with the involvement of the sciatic nerve as a severe complication of neonatal resuscitation employing umbilical drug administration has been elucidated by angiographic studies. This complication was found to result from a spasm and subsequent thrombosis of the internal iliac artery induced by intraumbilical drug administration. Guidelines for the prevention of this severe complication are offered.
The authors have investigated the blood supply of the hip joint in aseptic necrosis following a bloodless reduction of a congenital dislocation of the hip with the help of serial angiography in 6 patients aged 3.5 to 8 years. The angiographic examination has allowed us to determine a reduction in the vascular field on the side affected by hip joint dysplasia as compared with the values on the conventionally normal side. The experimental investigation of the vessels by means of introduction of a radiopaque mixture has demonstrated that in case of a non-physiological position of the lower extremities (Lorenz I) a compression of the blood supplying vessels of the hip joints takes place.

Electron-microscopic and angiographic studies of hip joints (healthy and sick) were performed. Bone-cartilaginous tissue and tissue of a joint capsula from 14 patients (7 to 14 years old) obtained during the operation were studied; angiography was performed in 6 patients during their life. Degenerative processes with a predominance of a hydropic dystrophy develop in the joint cartilage of the femur head. Collagen structures undergo mucoid swelling and dysproteinosis. Edema of the joint capsula, mainly its deep layers, is characteristic for this disease. Pathomorphological changes develop against the background of a vascular deficiency.

Angio-and phlebography, as well as pathomorphological studies were made on epiphyseal cartilaginous plate, diaphyseal bone tissue and skin of patients with partial gigantism of upper extremities. Significant developmental anomalies were found in the formation of palmar arches and digital arteries, as well as hypoplasia and aplasia of deep brachial and antebrachial veins. Light and electron microscopy revealed epiphyseal plate dystrophy and dysplasia, tubular bone osteoporosis, subcutaneous fat hyperplasia. The data obtained suggest a pathogenetic relationship between the vascular formation and the development of some malformations and growth abnormalities of upper extremities.

Congenital partial gigantism of the upper extremity in children is accompanied by disorders in division and formation of the forearm and hand arteries, underdevelopment of profound veins of the shoulder and forearm.
Angiographic examinations of shin blood vessels were carried out in 11 patients of 2 1/2 to 16 years with congenital false joints, and in 3 of these patients also pathomorphological and ultrastructural studies of the bone and cartilage tissue from the false joint area were performed. The deepest disorders of the blood supply were found at the level of the false joint. Dysplastic changes in the bone consisted in disorders of normal osteogenesis and atypical development of the cartilage, thinning of the bone structures, ultrastructural invalidity of osteocytes and insufficient mineral saturation of the organic matrix. Dystrophy of chondrocytes and deficient ultrastructure of collagen fibrills were noted.
