[The prospects for using inactivated influenza vaccines on the troops].

The article analyses the results of controlled epidemiologic observation made in military unit to estimate the immunological and clinico-epidemiological efficiency of national inactivated influenza vaccines with different valency and antigen charge in inoculative dose. The analysis proves the high immunogenic activity and protective features of inactivated influenza trivaccines with enhanced contents of hemagglutinins. The article substantiates the reasons for mass application of these vaccines in military units with obligatory addition of B-component and enhanced antigen contents of vaccine viruses in inoculative dose.

[The clinico-epidemiological efficacy of thymogen in acute respiratory viral infections in a military collective].

This study gathers the results of epidemiological examination in training military unit, making evaluation of prophylactic efficiency of timogen, i.e. synthetic peptide of thymus for flu and other acute respiratory infections (ARI). The high clinico-epidemiological efficiency of timogen was proved in intranasal and subcutaneous administration that had led to a considerable reduction of morbidity rate, gravity and duration of ARI. Experimental substantiation for timogen administration was obtained that proved its efficiency for flu and other ARI prophylaxis in military units.

[Body immunocorrection when vaccination is contraindicated (a clinico-epidemiological validation)].

The article summarizes the results of epidemiological observation which was performed in one of the training units. The goals of this observation were to estimate the prophylactic efficiency of the selected application of Natrii nucleinas in persons with the lowered immunoresistance on the background of antigrip immunization. A high clinico-epidemiological effectiveness ws approved for 10-days administration of the Natrii nucleinas in persons with clinic manifestations of grip and other respiratory infections at the moment of vaccination. It is resulted in the diminishing of the morbidity index, duration and gravity of this pathology in the postvaccinal period. The administration of Natrii nucleinas was experimentally substantiated during this epidemiological observation.

[Changes in the etiologic structure of Sonne shigellosis in its multiyear dynamics].

The dynamics of Sonne dysentery morbidity in connection with changes in the structure of S. sonnei circulating among the population of Leningrad for the period of 1959-1984 was studied. Considering such sign as the leading fermentovar, three smaller periods were established in this stretch of time. Changes in the structure of circulating shigellae were accompanied by changes in the intensity and direction of tendencies or decrease in the manifest and asymptomatic forms of infection, as well as in annual morbidity levels and seasonal rises. A slow decrease in morbidity, which started in 1974, occurs in the presence of the predominant circulation of S. sonnei, fermentovar II, among the population; this fermentovar showed greater virulence and immunogenicity than other biovars. One of the decisive moments characterizing the dynamics of the epidemic process of Sonne dysentery is the intensity of the circulation of shigellae in the S-form, and the intensity of the population immunity of the host, linked with this fact, is subject to phasic fluctuations during each annual epidemic cycle.

[Manifestations of genotypic and phenotypic heterogeneity in populations of Shigella sonnei and of humans at different phases of the development of the epidemic process].

The study of the structure and developmental dynamics of S. sonnei populations and the state of local immunity to this infection in children under school age has revealed that the interaction of the heterogeneous populations of the parasite and the host is the internal motive force of the self-regulating phasic development of the epidemic process. In the course of this process complementary changes in the virulence of the infective agent and in the immunoresistance of children are generated on the basis of negative feed-back.
