[The rate of detecting Chlamydia in male homosexuals with syphilis].

A total of 159 homosexuals suffering from various forms of syphilis, aged 17 to 71, were screened for chlamydial antigen with the use of fluorescent monoclonal antibodies. Asymptomatic urogenital chlamydiosis was detected in 33 of 107 (30.8 percent) homosexual syphilitics. In 52 patients the material was collected simultaneously from the throat, urethra, and rectum; Chlamydia were detected in 71.2 percent of these.

[The isolation and characteristics of long-term continuous lymphoid cell lines (IK-10 and IK-12) from patients with mycosis fungoides].

Examinations of 26 cell cultures have detected in two cases continuous IK-10 and IK-12 cell lines from patients with mycosis fungoides. Studies of these cell ultrastructure, carried out by transmission electron microscopy, have shown organoids of all types, that are characteristic of both minor and medium lymphocytes and of lymphoblasts. Markers of T-, B-cells and mononuclears are also detectable in these cell lines. The cells express surface immunoglobulins and interleukin-2 receptors. Noteworthy that association of these cells in a population may be in vitro cultivated for more than 2 years.

[An in-vitro system study of the immunomodulating activity of taktivin in atopic dermatitis].

In vitro effect of tactivin on E-rosette forming capacity of peripheral blood T lymphocytes of atopic dermatitis patients permits more accurate diagnosis of immunodeficiency degree, evaluation of the relations between T-cell immunity affection and immunomodulation results. Individual sensitivity of ERF cells to tactivin in vitro may be utilized for selection of patients in need for immunocorrection and the latter substantiation.

[An ultrastructural and morphometric analysis of the polymorphonuclear leukocytes from lesion foci and from the peripheral blood in patients with a gonorrhea-chlamydial urogenital infection before and during treatment with doxycycline combined with T-activin].

The leukocyte digestion function was decreased before therapy in the patients with combined gonorrheal-chlamydial infection. Tactivin therapy normalized the phagocytic activity of the peripheral blood polymorphonuclear leukocytes. These data give grounds for including tactivin in combined therapy of patients with mixed gonorrheal-chlamydial urogenital infection.

[The immune status of homosexuals ill with different forms of syphilis].

Status of the cell-mediated, humoral immunity, and nonspecific defense factors were examined before and after specific therapy in 40 homosexuals suffering from secondary relapsing and latent early syphilis. The findings evidence that changes in the cell-mediated immunity of homosexual syphilitics essentially differ from those in heterosexuals with syphilis: decreased count of T-helpers and elevated one of T-suppressors evidence impaired ratio of T-lymphocyte subpopulations and immunoregulatory cell imbalance. A significantly increased level of C4 complement component was observed, evidencing a deficiency of the complement system. These data call for the development of a scheme of immunocorrective therapy for homosexuals suffering from syphilis.
