[Relation between the suitability of the pancreas for transplantation and the structure of its blood vessels].

The pancreas from 111 corpses of persons, male and female, at the age of 16-92 years with various pathology has been investigated. The pancreatic blood vessels are injected with protacryl and undergone subsequent corrosion. The correlative and regressive analyses of the measurements reveal that age, height, character of pathology influence the state of the pancreatic blood vessels. It is recommended to observe the following conditions for choosing the donor of the pancreas graft: age under 35, middle height (especially for women), absence of corporal comotion and vast trauma, that essentially influence the vessels (causing spasm, disturbed integrity of the vascular wall), angiographic control conducted during washing or perfusion of the graft vascular bed.

[Effect of short-term antiorthostatic hypokinesia on carbohydrate metabolic indices and on the beta-lipoprotein content in human blood].

Before and after 5-day bed rest in the head-down position (at an angle of --4.5 degrees) the healthy male test subjects were exposed to selective catheterization with blood samples withdrawn drom different compartments of the cardiovascular system. The content of glucose insulin lactic acid and beta-lipoproteins was measured. After bed rest the systemic circulation--mixed arterial and venous blood--showed a trend for a decrease of carbohydrate metabolism and an increase of the content of beta-lipoproteins. Transcapillary metabolism in different organs, first of all, in the brain and liver altered significantly. The liver began to release glucose and ceased to utilize lactic acid whereas the brain increased substantially its release of beta-lipoproteins. The data obtained were analyzed using a model of carbohydrate metabolism to control and artifical pancreas.

[Effect of immunodepressive therapy with azathioprine and prednisolone on the individual serum protein content in chronic kidney failure patients after a kidney allograft].

The immunodepressants azathioprine and prednisolone given to patients after kidney transplantation decreased the concentration of IgG, IgA, and IgM. Azathioprine and prednisolone did not affect the content of C3c and C4 components of complement in patients after kidney transplantation. Prednisolone coupled with azathioprine reduced the toxic action of the latter and raised the concentration of alpha 1-glycoprotein, alpha 2-macroglobin, transferrin, haptoglobin which are responsible for nonspecific defence factors.
