[Gastric collision tumor with osseous metaplasia].

Neuroendocrine cells are frequently found in gastric tumours, although they rarely make up more than one third of the total number of tumour cells. When juxtapositioning of the two kinds of tumour cells occurs a "collision tumour" is formed. These have been described to occur with varying frequency throughout the digestive tract. They are uncommon in the stomach. We describe a case, of a gastric collision tumour in which an adenocarcinoma coexisted with a carcinoide tumour and there were zones of bony metaplasia in the transition area between the two tumors. Positive CEA, VIP, beta-HCG and TSH on inmunohistochemical analysis was found.

[Treatment of hiatal hernia and gastroesophageal reflux using pexis of the round ligament by the Narbona technic].

A retrospective study was made of the treatment of hiatal hernia gastroesophageal reflux by esophagogastropexy using the gastrohepatic ligament (Narbona technique) in a group of 47 patients, similarly distributed among males and females, mean age 58 years, of which 16 cases (34%) had simple reflux and the rest had biliary or ulcerous pathology. Pexis alone was performed in 61% of patients, with the addition of approximation of the diaphragmatic crura in the rest. The results, following the criteria of Belsey and Skinner, were satisfactory in 95%, with an estimate recurrence of 4.25% in the first year. This evaluation corresponds to a mean follow-up of more than 5 years. The mortality was null and there were few complications. The gas bubble syndrome so frequently seen in fundoplication techniques was not appreciated. We conclude that because of its simplicity, minimum mortality and excellent results, this procedure should be considered among the options for resolving the problem of hiatal hernia-reflux.
