[Comparative evaluation of surgical methods of rectocele correction].

Sixty-three female patients with rectocele were examined before and after surgery. All the patients were divided into 3 groups. Patients of group 1 (n=22) have undergone transvaginal levatoroplasty, of group 2 (n=21)--transperineal levatoroplasty, and group 3 (n=20)--plastic repair of the rectovaginal septum with prolene net through the transperineal approach. Anatomic result, scores by Veksner's constipation scale, dejectiongraphy data (anorectal angle and prolapse of pelvic floor at rest and at dejection, depth of rectocele), sexual function. The recurrences have been revealed in 27.3% patients of group 1, in 9.5% patients of group 2, and in 5% patients of group 3. The worst functional results were achieved in group 2--a significant increase of Veksner's constipation scores (from 10.5 to 16.0), a drastic decrease of anorectal angle smoothing at dejection. The best sexual functional results were achieved in group 3--dyspareunia was diagnosed only in one patient. It is concluded that levatoroplasty should be avoided in female patients with obstructive dejection and in sexually active patients.

[Omentoplasty in surgical treatment of osteomyelitis of the ribs and sternum].

Seven-year experience in the treatment of 21 patients with chronic osteomyelitis of the ribs and sternum is summarized. Great omentum was used as plastic and disinfecting material in combination with laser radiation. Indications, techniques, short- and long-term results are presented. There were no recurrences of purulent process in the bones. Omentoplasty is the method of choice in surgical treatment of purulent lesions of costal cartilage and sternum.

[The optimization of immunoenzyme analysis with conjugates of virus-specific antibodies and alkaline phosphatase].

The data obtained in the study of the dependence of sensitivity of enzyme immunoassay (EIA) on chromo- and fluorogenic substrates used in this assay are presented. The sandwich variant of EIA, carried out with the use of antibodies labeled with alkaline phosphatase, has been shown to be 4-170 times, sometimes 500 times, more sensitive (in terms of concentrations at which aphthous fever virus antigens can be detected) than the complement fixation test and 1.8-64 times more sensitive than the passive hemagglutination test.

[The effect of changes in the rate of gastric emptying on the development of dumping syndrome after vagotomy].

Under analysis were results of the stomach emptying rate in 85 patients with duodenal ulcer not earlier than 6 months after vagotomy. The dumping-syndrome took place in 47 of them. It was shown that when studying the dumping-syndrome the investigation of the evacuatory function of the stomach must be performed when patients are in vertical posture. Of main significance in the appearance of dumping-syndrome was the accelerated emptying of the stomach during the first 10 min after the test breakfast.

Comparative quantum-chemical analysis of the electronic structure and Mössbauer parameters of the active site models for deoxymyoglobin and alpha- and beta-subunits of tetrameric deoxyhemoglobin.

The results of iterative extended Huckel calculations of the electronic structure of the penta-coordinated Fe(II)-porphyn-imidazole complexes as models for deoxymyoglobin and alpha- and beta-subunits of tetrameric deoxyhemoglobin are presented. Temperature dependences of the Fe-57 nuclei quadrupole splitting and isomer shift for deoxymyoglobin and alpha- and beta-subunits of tetrameric deoxyhemoglobin models were calculated taking into account the spin-orbit coupling between ground and low-lying Fe(II) high spin terms. The results show that the electronic structure and Mössbauer parameters are sensitive to the stereochemical differences of the active sites in deoxymyoglobin and alpha- and beta-subunits of tetrameric deoxyhemoglobin.

[Use of fluorescent probes for identifying certain animal viruses and antibodies to them].

Virus adsorption on cell receptors changed the state of cellular membranes, as was shown on a model of 25 viruses belonging to 13 families. This is indicated by an increase in the fluorescence of the DSM probe. Homologous antibodies block the virus adsorption on the cell membrane, this permitting identification of viruses and detection of antibodies to them.

[A rapid solid-phase immunoenzyme method in the diagnosis of viral infections].

An accelerated solid-phase enzyme-immunoassay has been developed which permits identification of antigens and antibodies to them within 30-40 min, even directly at the site of specimen collection. The method was tested on the models of foot-and-mouth disease virus, vesicular disease of swine, vesicular exanthema of swine, Aujeszky's disease, leukemia, and coronavirus infection of cattle.
