[Immunologic parameters in patients with acuminata condylomas].

A study is made of the state of cell and humoral immunity in patients with genital warts. The results show an increase in the T-suppressor lymphocyte population (T8+) (p less than 0.011) of these patients, which reduces the T-helper/T suppressor ratio (T4 +/T8 +). No alterations are observed in the humoral immunity on analyzing seric immunoglobulin concentration (IgA, IgG, IgM), complement factors (C3, C4), or their functionality (CH50).

[Study of immunologic parameters in parenteral drug addicts (PDA) with condylomata acuminata].

A study is made of the state of cell and humoral immunity in parenteral drug addicts both with and without genital warts. The results reveal alterations in the lymphocyte subpopulations, with a decrease in the T-helper/T-suppressor (T4+/T8+) ratio of both groups of patients. These alterations were more pronounced in those patients with genital warts (p less than 0.05). The alterations in humoral immunity, expressed as a hypergammaglobulinemia IgG and IgM, were similar in both groups. None of the immunological parameters were affected by the extension of the lesions, though the T4+/T8+ ratio was found to decrease with increasing length evolution of the lesions. It would be convenient to perform longitudinal studies of these preliminary data to evaluate the effect of human papilloma virus (HPV) on the immune system.

[Risk factors for the recurrence of spinocellular epithelioma. Study of 650 cases].

An evaluation is made of the clinical and histological parameters of 650 cases of spinocellular epithelioma. The statistical analysis shows tumor relapse to be related to tumor size, evolution time, relapse following previous treatments, earlier cutaneous lesions, Broders' grading, acantholysis, inflammatory infiltrate and type of treatment applied.

Biopsy↗

[Plantar myofibromatosis].

A case of recurrent plantar myofibromatosis is described, in which myofibroblasts are shown ultrastructurally. The characteristics and properties of this presence in different types of fibromatosis are discussed.

[Eosinophilic fasciitis. Response to treatment with cimetidine].

Eosinophilic fasciitis is a syndrome of imprecise classification which usually responds well to corticosteroids. We report a patient who did not respond to such treatment but he improved with cimetidine therapy. The pathogenesis of this syndrome and the possible action mechanism of cimetidine are discussed.

Cimetidine↗

[Atypical Sweet's syndrome. Apropos of 4 cases].

The authors study four cases of Sweet's syndrome in which the clinical manifestations differ from the original description, although the laboratory reports, the response to the treatment and histologic data were typical of this entity. By the way, the authors propose a hypothesis about the pathogenesis of this syndrome.

[Kaposi's sarcoma as the first manifestation of AIDS].

We report herein a case of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome in a 38 years old man with Kaposi's sarcoma, which evolution was fulminant in some months. The clinical, pathological and pathogenic characteristics of Kaposi's sarcoma in this syndrome are discussed.

[Effect of bornaprine in localized hyperhidrosis].

Therapeutic action of bornaprine on localized forms of hyperhidrosis is studied in 12 patients. 50% improved after a week treatment. Other patients showed an acceptable change in the third or fourth week. Side effects only appeared in one patient.

[Langerhans cell population in basal cell epitheliomas].

The authors studied the distribution of Langerhans cells in 42 cases of basal-cell epithelioma using monoclonals antibodies OKT6 and anti-HLA-Dr. The tumors are grouped in anatomopathologic subtypes. An increase of density of Langerhans cells is observed in the upper-tumoral epidermis. In the tissue tumour, the Langerhans cells are scarce, and we find a higher number of Langerhans cells in the peritumoral dermis.

Basal Cell Carcinoma↗

[Changes in surface oligosaccharides in precancerous skin lesions].

The authors studied 5 cases of the actinic keratoses, 3 cases of the leukoplakia and 2 cases of the cutaneous horn with the lectins specifics on the oligosaccharides of the keratinocyte's membrane. The patterns in each disease are described according to grade of differentiation.

Cell Membrane↗

[Hodgkin's disease of the skin].

The authors study a case of Hodgkin's disease type Rye III with specific infiltration of the skin. In cutaneous biopsy we find Reed-Stenberg cells. With treatment the cutaneous lesion diminishes without disappearing. A discussion is made about the Hodgkin's disease and its relation with lymphomatoid papulosis and its differential diagnostic with cutaneous lymphomas and the pathogenic way of cutaneous infiltration.

[Study of the circulating lymphocytes populations in systemic scleroderma, chronic discoid lupus erythematosus and dermatomyositis].

The authors studied the peripheral blood lymphocytes in any autoimmune diseases. In scleroderma the T-lymphocytes and ratio T4/T8 are decreased and B-lymphocytes are normal. In the LEDC the T-lymphocytes are decreased and B-lymphocytes are increased. In dermatomyositis the B-lymphocytes are increased and T-lymphocytes are decreased, the ratio T4/T8 is normal.

Chronic Disease↗

[Peripheral blood lymphocyte populations in 2 cases of Behçet syndrome].

The lymphocytes subsets in peripheral blood were studied in two patients with Behçet's syndrome. The finding about the decrease of T lymphocytes with the ratio elevated and specially the increase of B lymphocytes favors the hypothesis of predominance of the antibody formation over the cellular cytotoxicity.
