Neu-Laxova syndrome is a rare form of congenital malformation characterized by intrauterine growth retardation, microcephaly with bizarre facial features, short neck, apparent edema, scaly skin, and perinatal death. Chromosomal analysis in reported cases has revealed a normal karyotype, and an autosomal recessive transmission has been postulated. We present a case of Neu-Laxova syndrome. The pathologic features and the prenatal radiographic appearance are described.
A case of cervical pregnancy was treated successfully with methotrexate. We used serial beta-human chorionic gonadotropin levels, magnetic resonance imaging, and sonography to diagnose the pregnancy and monitor therapy. Hysterectomy was avoided, and the patient's reproductive capability was preserved. Toxicity was limited to transient elevation of liver transaminases.
A woman was treated for leukoagglutinin-induced noncardiogenic pulmonary edema resulting from a blood transfusion.
Hyperimmunoglobulinemia E is characterized by recurrent bacterial sinopulmonary and skin infections from birth or early childhood, with IgE levels at least 10 times greater than the upper limits of normal. The following case describes a young black woman with hyperimmunoglobulinemia E syndrome who had an uneventful pregnancy and delivery. The infant has been diagnosed as suffering from hyperimmunoglobulinemia E syndrome as well.

The records of seventy-four patients who had had cervical cerclage procedures were surveyed. Without suture placement, these patients would have had a fetal salvage rate of 23%. The Shirodkar method was performed in 67 cases and the McDonald in 7. Spontaneous abortions occurred in ten women (13.5%). Four pregnancies terminated between the 20th and 26th week of gestation; two of these losses were due to chorioamnionitis and two to immature labor. No congenital anomalies were noted. In the remaining 60 patients, 6 pregnancies terminated between the 28th and the 36th week of gestation, and 54 pregnancies were carried beyond the 36th week; all of these infants survived. The salvage rate after the cerclage procedure was 81.8%. The average length of labor in the patients who delivered vaginally was 9 hours, 18 minutes. The incidence of cervical lacerations was 3%. Eight cesarean sections were performed (13.3%) for various reasons.
Papanicolaou-stained cervicovaginal smears from 478 women with intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) in place were reviewed for the presence of Actinomyces colonies. The overall infection rate was 12.6%. Plastic IUDs had a significantly higher infection rate than that of Copper 7 IUDs. The infection rate was found to increase with the duration of use of IUDs. The presence or absence of Actinomyces was not related to age, race, parity, previous abortions, or financial status of the patients.

Vesicouterine fistulas are a rare complication of obstetrical-gynecological interventions and are the least common of the acquired urogenital fistulas. They are almost solely associated with cesarean section. A case is reported in which a patient with adenomyosis and pelvic adhesions presented with menouria (vesical menstruation) after uterine biopsy. A vesicocorporeal fistula was demonstrated by cystography and CT and confirmed by cystoscopy and hysteroscopy.
