We present the case of an isolated rupture of the common carotid after a non-penetrating trauma of the neck. The patient was diagnosed by auscultation, ultrasound examination and arteriography and subsequently operated. A carotid segment was resected and reconstructed by an interposed vascular graft. We comment on the mechanisms of carotid artery blunt trauma, diagnostic methods and surgical options in this uncommon situation.

A 49-years-old man was operated on of a descending thoracic dissecting aneurysm by means of a heparin-less external Gott shunt. A review of spinal irrigation, neurological deficits postclamping of the descending thoracic aorta and methods of spinal preservation in aortic surgery are presented.
A case of a 47-year-old white male who developed an aortobronchial fistula eleven years after resection of a posttraumatic aneurysm of the descending aorta is presented. The clinical picture, the diagnostic problems as well as the treatment are presented and commented.
