[The clinico-rheoencephalographic characteristics of a hyperemia syndrome].

The author present comparative analysis of rheoencephalographic (REG) data obtained from 500 differently aged Kiev residents with atherosclerotic dyscirculatory encephalopathy after Chernobyl accident. Changes of principal REG parameters are determined as the plethoric syndrome (PS). Main variants of nerves characterizing PS are divided into three types. Data obtained by the authors confirmed changes of the vascular system under the new ecological conditions.

[The clinical course of the immediate and late convalescent periods in viral meningoencephalitis].

The frequency and severity of residual phenomena after viral meningoencephalitis is to large degree determined by the premorbid background, etiology, severity of the acute period of the disease hospitalization terms. Among the residual phenomena functional disorders are more frequent while organic are rare and regress within 1.5-2 years. Complete cure of the patients should therefore be 1.5-2 years after discharge from the hospital.

[The prospects and problems of drug-induced anesthesia].

The problem of pain has a major medico-social significance and necessitates detailed investigation both from the position of etiology and pathogenesis and new therapy methods. Among many methods of pain control drug-induced anesthesia is of great importance. The multiplicity of pain requires optimal use of analgetics and their combination with other agents strictly in coordination with individual needs of the patient. Special anesthesia systems are to be designed for this purpose.

Calcium channel ligand binding to intact, concanavalin A and cyclic AMP-treated cells of the immune system.

To examine whether the cells of immune system express calcium channel-forming proteins, we studied the binding of calcium channel ligands, known to detect certain types of the above channels in excitable tissues, to murine splenic and human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Specific (i.e., displaceable by excess cold ligand) binding of the 3H-labelled dihydropyridine drugs PN200-110 and nitrendipine, was not detected in these cells. Specific binding of a phenylalkylamine drug, [3H]verapamil, was detected, but cannot be attributed to the existence of certain specialized receptors, since multiple [3H]verapamil binding sites (about 10(6) per cell) appeared to be occupied. [3H]Verapamil binding to murine splenic mononuclear cells was inhibited following exposure to either the polyclonal T-cell activator, concanavalin A, or a cell-permeable analogue of the second messenger, cyclic AMP, suggesting that processes of lymphocyte activation and/or intracellular signalling may down-modulate at least some of calcium channel ligand binding sites.

[The characteristics of the clinical course of hemorrhagic meningoencephalitis].

A study is presented of 132 patients with hemorrhagic meningoencephalitis of viral, bacterial and viral-bacterial origin. Before admission to the clinic meningoencephalitis was diagnosed in 46.2% of patients. The cause of hypodiagnosis was underestimation of the clinical manifestations of the disease and anamnesis findings at the prehospital period. In 15.9% of patients the disease began with psychotic disorders. Lethality was 23.48%.

[Central hemodynamics in young and middle-aged patients with the initial manifestations of cerebral circulatory failure].

The authors studied the indices of general hemodynamics in 53 patients with initial manifestations of cerebro-circulatory insufficiency of young and middle age. Young patients suffering of cerebral atherosclerosis and vegetative-vascular dystonia showed a hyperkinetic type of hemodynamics while the middle-aged with atherosclerosis showed the hypokinetic type evidencing abnormal function of autoregulatory mechanisms.
