[Experimental evaluation of different methods of intraoperative aerostasis in surgery of the lungs].

The work deals with the results of comparative evaluation of different variants of intraoperative aerostasis by means of glue and bioplastic materials in experiments on 75 animals. The authors give in detail a clinicomorphological characteristics of each method for rendering the lung wound airtight. It is concluded from the obtained data that aerostasis by means of fibrin glue and collagenous film is highly effective.

Animals

[Immunopathologic studies in chronic bronchitis].

Immunopathological investigations (demonstration of IgG, IgM, IgE, SIgA and C3) of bronchial mucosa in 32 cases of chronic bronchitis showed in 1/5 of all cases deposits of immunoglobulins of the IgG, M and E class in the basal membrane. The complement factor C3 was found in 1/10 of all cases. SIgA was seen in only 55%. There is a close correlation between the loss of SIgA and deposits of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgE) in the basal membrane.

Adult

[Malignant polymorphic-cell adenoma of the parathyroid gland].

The paper describes a case history of a 64-year-old woman who had suffered over no less than 2-year period from an unusual hormonally active tumour of the parathyroid gland associated with signs characteristic of Reklinghausen's disease. The tumour presented a node 4 cm in diameter. Histologically it showed pronounced atypia and polymorphism of the cells of the chief cell type and eosinophilic cells. Grimelius silvering revealed not numerous cells with argyrophil granularity in the cytoplasm. No mitoses were detected but tumour cells grew into the capsule of the node. No metastases were found on autopsy 20 days after the operation.

Adenoma

[Pulmonary microcarcinoids and their biological significance].

The results of the analysis of 41 observations of bronchial microcarcinoids ("tumorlets") established the regularities of the sex and age distribution of the patients, localizations of the tumours, the patterns of the background processes, histoarchitectonic and cytological variants of tumour foci, different variants of histogenesis as well as the capacity for invasive growth and the occurrence of argirophilic granules in the cytoplasm of tumour cells.
