[Use of three-valued logic to enhance the stability of interpretation algorithms in medical diagnostic devices].

The procedure proposed for converting the binary production principles to the three-valued form, the relationship found between the well-known three-valued logic networks, and the particular properties of three-valued logic expressions permit introduction of the mechanisms that are responsible for three-valued production principles and the construction of logic conclusions by the results of this variation. The apparatus designed ensures a higher stability of ECG interpretation without lowering its efficiency and makes it possible to estimate the quality of interpretation by the capacities of the apparatus itself.

[Interpreting medical devices].

The specific properties of softwares for interpretation of physiological signals are discussed. Problems in the presentation of inaccurate knowledge and in the assessment of the quality of software realization of this knowledge are identified. Ways of describing inaccuracies by using the factors of certainty, inaccurate logic, linguistic approximations, and three-value logic are considered. Using the well-known approaches to testing the ECG and external respiration analyzing systems as examples, the authors show it necessary to develop special methods to evaluate the efficiency, selectivity, and stability of inferences for slight-magnitude conclusions.

[The determination of the sensitivity and specificity of the interpretation rules parameters in a study of the medical equipment testing].

The interpretation systems of medical instruments are traditionally assessed by their sensitivity and specificity in definitions of the binary classification scheme. However, should the system's conclusions on the presence of a pathology be extended by a multitude of degrees of its pronouncement, such scheme is unacceptable. A three-digital classification scheme with isolated degrees of pronounced and weak pathology signs reflects, firstly, an understanding of the interpretation error value between these two degrees and, secondly, the harmlessness of errors inside each degree. The discussed logical and probabilistic models of constructing the quality parameters ensure the continuity in respect to the indices of the binary classification scheme, however, it can be stated that the probabilistic parameters are more preferable.
