Percutaneous absorption of griseofulvin and proquazone in the rat and in isolated human skin.

Ointments containing griseofulvin and proquazone, respectively, were made up of monoglycerides of medium chain length and an aprotic solvent, glycerinformal. The ointments were applied topically on the back of bile cannulated rats. The total amount absorbed percutaneously and the permeability constants of both drugs were considerably higher for the ointments than for simple solutions of the drugs without monoglycerides. Distribution of the labeled drugs in rat skin has been demonstrated by microautoradiography. Concentrations of the drugs in the different layers of human skin together with the medium flow rates have been determined 16 h after administration of the ointments onto isolated human skin. Monoglycerides of medium chain length enhance significantly the permeability of the stratum corneum for solutes.

[Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint. A case report (author's transl)].

It is rare to see synovial chondromatosis lesions in the temporomandibular joint. They arise from metaplasic alterations in synovial tissue, to a degree sufficient to produce small rounded masses of cartilaginous tissue which become free intra-articular chondromas. A case of this type is described, this being apparently the first time that these lesions have been reported in the French published literature.

[Multiple cystadenolymphomas of the parotids and upper lip (author's transl)].

Cystadenolymphomas occur fairly frequently in the salivary glands, usually as a single tumour in one parotid. Bilateral and multiple forms have also been reported, and their presence in other principal or accessory salivary glands has been described. It is exceptional, however, for them to occur simultaneously or successively as multiple lesions in the principal or accessory salivary glands. A case is reported of a 46-year-old man presenting with multiple cystadenolymphomas in both parotid glands and the mucosal glands of the upper lip.

[Results of treatment of mandibular fractures in 27 children (author's transl)].

Twenty-seven children aged from 0 to 15 years were treated for mandibular fractures in the Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgical Unit in Nantes over a period of three years. Fractures of the condyle were frequently observed. Good results were obtained with functional treatment, but very strict criteria should be applied when assessing the quality of these results (which should be excellent, especially in relation to condylar mobility, in young subjects during the growing period).

[Monoblock excision of epitheliomas of the tongue and floor of the mouth. Apropos of 27 cases].

So-called "moniblock" excision, an attractive technique for the treatment of carcinomas of the tongue and floor of the mouth, benefits considerably from the use of pediculated flaps which ensure closure of the buccal cavity and thus diminish or even eliminate the risk of septic cervical cellulitis. The authors report 27 cases of carcinoma treated using this technique involving plastic repair using a temporo-frontal flap inserted in the buccal cavity via the temporal groove after resection of the coronal and the zygomatic arch.
