[Frontier migration and employment: facts and questions].

"Frontier labor migration in Argentina is closely linked with poverty and social exclusion.... The first part of this article concerns the impact of frontier migrants in the urban labor market on the basis of information collected by the Permanent Household Survey (EPH) in October 1993 and October 1994 in Greater Buenos Aires area, where, as per the last Population Census, over 50% of residents from frontier countries are settled. The second part focuses on the case study of Bolivian migrant workers who have found their own place in Argentine markets...in the field of vegetable-growing in the green belts surrounding bigger cities, sometimes including peddling of their product in urban areas by female family members." [Benign neoplasms of the soft tissues of the oral cavity].

The Authors, starting from a statistical study of Gennari et al., point out the frequency of the benign neoformations in the soft tissue of the oral cavity. They describe then the most frequently findable histological forms and the problems posed to the clinic and the surgeon by some histological forms such as the mixed tumours of the minor salivary glands and the fibropapillomatosis of the vestibular fornices. The Authors conclude stating that they not always are harmless neoformations and easily surgically excisable.

[Limitations in opening the mouth after temporal craniotomy. Observations on 3 clinical cases].

The authors describe 3 cases of mouth-opening limitations and dyskinesia of the remaining mandibular movements, of different degrees of severity, arisen following a cicatricial retraction of the temporal muscle, caused by neurosurgical accesses to the underlying encephalic regions. Having kept in mind the afflictions that could cause an analogous symptomatology, the authors stop to consider which is the most suitable kind of treatment (surgical or rehabilitative) in these specific cases. For both kinds of treatment, corresponding to the specific indications, they propose techniques confirmed by their personal experiences.

Functional disturbances of the inferior alveolar nerve after sagittal osteotomy of the mandibular ramus: operating technique for prevention.

The high frequency of permanent functional disturbance of the inferior alveolar nerve after sagittal osteotomy of the mandibular ramus is a disadvantage to which attention is always drawn in the different operating statistics. The authors, on the basis of previous experimental research, and in order to reduce the incidence of this disadvantage, have carried out sagittal osteotomy of the ramus in a series of patients by performing the splitting of the two cortical plates using a thin cement spatula as a chisel. The results have been extremely encouraging as the authors have observed only one case of permanent functional deficit of the inferior alveolar nerve and they have even noticed a very low incidence of temporary impairment.

[Study of ganglioside therapy in maxillofacial surgery].

56 patients have been treated with cerebral gangliosides by the Authors. They underwent a maxillo-facial operation due to various pathological reasons (traumas, tumors, malformations). They presented secondary symptoms such as neurological deficits of the V and VII paired cranial nerves. The recovery from neurological sensitive, motor deficit have been positive, and the Authors have been encouraged to the therapeutical use of gangliosides in the mentioned pathology and to a wider experiment of the test product.

[Tuberculosis of the oral mucosa].

The authors deal with a secondary TBC case of the mucous membrane of the cheek they have treated. They also deal with the present etiopathogenic hypotheses on this subject and the most frequent clinical symptoms.
