[Optic attachment to a microsurgical forceps].

The authors suggest an original optic attachment to a microsurgical forceps which removes the shortcomings of the traditional optic apparatuses used in microsurgery. The attachment allows the lens to be brought directly to the operative zone and combines the functions of two instruments--forceps and magnifying glass. Such a combination expands considerably the possibilities of the operator and creates optimal conditions for precision manipulations. The optic attachment is used in reconstructive and restorative operations on the bile ducts and in operations on the large intestine at the stage of precision suture application.

[Surgical treatment of acute bacteroid purulent cholangitis].

The results of treatment of 40 patients with acute purulent cholangitis developed against the background of choledocholithiasis are presented. Bacteroid of the kind B. fragilis (67.5% of cases), Fusobacterium, Lactobacillus sp. (30%) are the leading etiological factor of cholangitis. The indications for external and internal drainage of the bile ducts are substantiated. The ineffectiveness of internal drainage in this disease is demonstrated.

[Changes in the hormonal balance and erythropoiesis following neurosurgical operations].

The work analyses the relationship between hormonal disorders in the postoperative period and the dynamics of postoperative anemias in patients who were operated on for brain tumors of various localization. It was found that hormonal changes have an effect on the process of hematopoiesis manifested by inhibition of erythroid differentiation in the bone marrow. The principal role in this case belongs to hypercortisolemia which is intensified by postoperative hormone therapy.
