[The evaluation of the use of transvaginal ultrasonography in the diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma].

In our study we estimated the uses of transvaginal ultrasonography in the diagnostic of endometrial carcinoma. There was noted that the most characteristic symptoms of this neoplasma in USG is the thickening of the endometrium and the absence or distortion of "central echo" (imaging of the endometrial cavity). We confirmed the co-existence of common epidemiologic factors of carcinoma endometrium too.

[Clinical analysis of women with cervical carcinoma treated in the years 1989-1994].

Investigation covered 112 women treated for invasive cervical carcinoma. Standard clinical data were analysed: age, residence, number of pregnancies and deliveries. According to FIGO classification clinical development level and histological type of the carcinoma were assessed. Surgical treatment was applied in 53 cases with carcinoma I degree (47.3% of all women with invasive cervical carcinoma). The other patients with higher degrees of disease development underwent curie-therapy. No considerable differences between our own results and nationwide data were observed.

[Uroflowmetry in diagnosis of urinary stress incontinence in women].

The authors' aim was to evaluate the range of uroflowmetry in diagnostics of stress urinary incontinence (sui) in women. The examinations were carried out in 59 women with sui, aged from 35 to 45 years (group I). The control group consisted of 20 asymptomatic women (group II). To evaluate volumes of urine voided during micturition in a unit of time a urological flowmeter UF-1 (produced by COTM, Białystok) was used. Numeric data of flow were analysed, as well as registered curves of flow were ascribed to one of the following flow patterns: normal, multi-peak or interrupted. The conducted studies revealed statistically significant differences in flow values in group I, compared to group II. A more frequent incidence of multi-peak and interrupted flow patterns was found in women with sui, which could be related to a neurogenic component in etiology of the disease.

[Morphological studies into pulmonary arterioles in pregnant rabbits with experimental hypertension (author's transl)].

Arterial hypertension was evoked in pregnant rabbits by daily applications of 2.5 microgram/kg/min of CIBA hypertensin, beginning on the 16th day of pregnancy. The animals were sacrificed on the 30th day of pregnancy. Pathological changes were histological recorded from their pulmonary arterioles, particularly those between 100 and 400 micron in outer diameter. They were vascular contraction, hyperplasia of exterior and central vascular layers, oedema, elastosis as well as fibrinous and hyaline proliferation. Non-pregnant rabbits, which had received the same dose of hypertensin, died on the third day from application. Their pulmonary arterioles were found to have undergone contraction. No vascular changes were recordable from clinically intact pregnant rabbits.

[Intra-uterine foetal development and behaviour of circulating blood in pregnant rabbits with experimental hypertension (author's transl)].

The isotope method with labelled albumin 131J was applied to pregnant rabbits with pharmacologically induced hypertension to study both the volume of circulating blood and intra-uterine development of the foetus. The volume of circulating blood as well as birth-weight and head-breech length of the foetus were all reduced with statistically secured significance in the experimental group by comparison with a control group.

[Comparative studies into lipid component levels of parturients with EPH gestosis and of their newborns (author's transl)].

Statistically significant rises in LDL (low density lipoprotein) concentrations, low cholesterol levels, and total lipid levels significantly below those recorded from newborns of clinically intact mothers were established from newborns of mothers with moderate and severe EPH gestosis. The above parameters did not deviate largely from the normal in patients with moderate gestosis. The levels of total lipids, cholesterol, and LDL in the serum of the newborns were clearly lower than those recordable from the serum of the mothers.
