[Use of rotation osteotomy in pathology of the proximal end of the femur].

Femoral rotary osteotomies according to Sugioka and A. M. Sokolovsky in adults are mostly indicated in case of idiopathic aseptic necrosis of the femoral head. As an indication for child and adolescent operations can serve multiplanar deformations of the femur proximal end following early treatment of congenital dislocations. Perthes disease, in some cases--pathological femur subluxations as well as juvenile epiphysiolysis. 30 adults and 24 children and adolescents aged 3.5-17 years have been operated on. In the majority of cases good and satisfactory results have been achieved. The peculiarity of the rotary osteotomy technique application in childhood is the severance of the greater trochanter with the zone of growth.

[Results of the surgical treatment of congenital hip dislocation in schoolchildren].

The author presents his experience of surgical treatment of 63 high congenital dislocations of the hip in schoolchildren. Osteotomy of the pelvis after Salter in combination with shortening osteotomy and open reduction of the hip has been used. Aseptic necrosis of the femoral head in the postoperative period has been revealed in almost 80% of the cases; the results were good during the first 10 years of observations in 28.5% and bad in 31% of the cases; after 10 and more years the percentage of good results fell to 18%. However, the patients gave a higher estimation of the treatment results as the period of clinical compensation of the operated joints lasted 10 to 12 pears, which made easier their contacts with schoolmates and family creation in future.

[Surgical tactics in the treatment of pathologic dislocation and subluxation of the hip joint].

The authors substantiate the indications for various extraarticular surgical interventions taking into consideration a great diversity of pathologic changes in the proximal end of the femur and in the acetabulum. Preference is given to combined interventions on the bones of the pelvis and on the femur. The indications for the 5 major versions of the operation for pathologic dislocations and subluxations of the hip are presented. 50 of the 52 operated joints were examined 1 to 8 years later; in 36 cases the results were good, in 10 cases satisfactory and in 4 cases bad.

Acetabulum↗

[Webbed neck associated with other developmental defects].

In patients with a combination of congenital webbed deformity of the neck with the Klippel-Weil syndrome, muscular hyperplasia of lateral masses of the neck and latent cerebrospinal hernias favorable cosmetic results could be obtained by an operative dissection of excessive soft tissues including the muscular and cyst ectopic cerebrospinal membrane tissues.
