[Effect of combined application of nitrogen baths and 6 month physical training on physical work capacity and extrasystole in patients with ischemic heart disease and stable stenocardia].

AIM: To study effects of combined use of general artificial nitric baths and bicycle exercise for 6 months on physical performance (PP) and extrasystole (ES) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and stable angina pectoris (SAP) of functional class I-II. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 129 CHD with SAP patients entered the study. Of them, 44 patients received balneotherapy (a course of general artificial nitric baths); 37 patients took the baths and exercised on bicycle ergometer; 48 patients took the baths, exercised on bicycle ergometer in the outpatient clinic and continued the exercises for 6 months. The patients were examined with spiroveloergometry and ambulatory Holter ECG monitoring. RESULTS: The latter group of patients achieved the highest training effect manifesting with increased PP and coronary heart reserve, an antiarrhythmic effect (a 73.3% fall in the mean number of ventricular ES for 24 hours, a 72.2% one in this number of supraventricular ES). CONCLUSION: A significant efficacy is shown of combined use of general nitric baths and bicycle exercise with prolongation for 6 months in CHD patients and SAP of functional class I-II with ES.

[The Nation's health as a social mechanism of society's stable well-being].

The paper provides evidence for the need of creating new social mechanisms of nation's health promotion as a factor that influences the stability and well-being of society. To accomplish these tasks, health should be regarded as a polysystem concept that includes 1) a developing human being as a source of nation's intellectual resources; 2) economy as a tool for social welfare; 3) ecology as a predictor of the influences of working conditions; and 4) social policy as a a mechanism of controlling the priorities of prevention and treatment. New principles of new management organizational forms for health protection have been developed to implement the stated theoretical points.

[Evaluation of technogenic radiation exposures from ecological and physiological points of view].

Many years' experience with complex supervision of the environmental radiation situation, the specific features of the population's physiological and health status after radiation accidents (the Chernobyl, Kyshtym and other accidents). The paper emphasized the necessity of having a knowledge of the specific features of the influence of a radiation factor (and its components) on establishing the radiation dose for the population due to the environmental peculiarities of the radiation background in different regions and abnormal zones of the Earth. The paper provides evidence for the need to apply an environmental and physiological approach to working out the standards of radiation doses for the inhabitants of post-accident polluted areas. To this end, a concept of the regional standard of exposure is proposed for different regions of the Earth with regard to the specific natural radiation background, technogenic and medical "additives" on making diagnostic and therapeutical efforts by using X-rays and radiation therapy. A new concept is offered to develop the life-support systems in the areas exposed to radiation contamination, whose main goal is to minimize radiation exposures with regard of data on each area-specific data on the regional standard of the pre-accident radiation background, technogenic background, medical additives and prediction of future radiation doses. Exposure of the population to radiation is minimized by reasonably operating its components and making special life regimens in the contaminated areas.

[Ways to reduce radiation doses caused by radon during exploration of gas and oil fields in the North].

Analysis of literature data and the personal studies of oil and gas extraction enterprises proved that the radiation environment depends mainly on natural radionuclides (uranium-238, thorium-232, potassium-40) incorporated into soil, deposit water, oil, gas and construction materials. Radioactive barytic accumulations in compressor pump tubes appeared to b a possible cause for significant background gamma-irradiation (up to 3,000 microR/hr and more; Neftekoumsk town of Stavropol area). Major radiation dose received by personnel in such cases results mainly from radon-222 and its derivatives, that should be considered in placement of living area, location of industrial and special compartments, water extraction sites. The places with minimal rate of radon emission are recommended for such purposes. To decrease radiation doses associated with gas and oil extraction in the North, the authors suggested a scheme of radiation control and listed all the equipment necessary.

[The psychophysiological training of the crew members of multiseat aircraft for cooperation in accident situations].

The article cites the results of the researching work that analyzes the crew cooperation in the conditions of an aircraft break-downs which were imitated at flight simulator; elaborates psychophysiological recommendations and makes its efficiency estimate. The authors state that psychophysiological recommendations could relieve routine work embarrassing situations, therefore promoting for better professional reliability of flight crews.

[A comparative evaluation of the efficacy of the monotherapy of peptic ulcer using EHF-puncture and basic drug therapy].

20 patients with gastric ulcer and 82 ones with duodenal ulcer received basic chemotherapy. 23 patients with gastric ulcer and 97 patients with duodenal ulcer were treated with EHF-puncture. Pain and dyspeptic syndromes in EHF-puncture patients were relieved 2.5-3 times quicker than in chemotherapy. Time of scarring of ulcer defect reduced, on the average, 1.5-fold. Fibrogastroduodenoscopy detected mucosal erosions in 55% of patients with gastric and 26% of duodenal ulcer patients given ampicillin. In patients treated with EHF-puncture erosions were found in 2.2% of patients.

[The effect of EHF puncture on the immune status of patients with gastric peptic ulcer].

Microwave puncture (MP) effects were compared to effects of 4-component basic medication in 63 patients with gastric ulcer. The study was made of nonspecific defense factors, serum levels of IgA, IgM, IgG, gastric juice levels of IgA, pool structure of circulating lymphocytes (DR+, CD3+, CD22+, CD4+, CD8+), spontaneous and LPS-stimulated Ig-synthetic function of B-lymphocytes. Mean time of the ulcer healing in MP usage made up 14.6 +/- 1.6 days, in standard therapy--27.2 +/- 3.1 days (P < 0.001). Immunomodulating effect shown by MP consisted in activation of nonspecific defense factors and activation of immunoglobulin-synthetizing function of B-lymphocytes.

[The use of physical factors in the rehabilitative treatment of patients with stone fragments in the upper urinary tract after extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy].

155 patients with fragments of the crushed stones in the upper urinary tract after lithotripsy were divided into 3 groups. 60 patients of group 1 received dynamic amplipulse therapy, oral mineral water, iodobromine baths. Elimination of the fragments was observed in 91.7% of the patients. Group 2 patients (n = 60) were exposed to local vibration, ultrasound and iodobromine baths. The effect occurred in 96.7% of the cases. 35 patients of group 3 were exposed to impulse low-frequency magnetic field and took iodobromine baths. The elimination of the fragments occurred in 62.9% of the cases after a single treatment course.

[The effect of ultra high frequency electromagnetic fields on the intrarenal blood flow and kidney morphology in pyelonephritis (experimental study].

The study was made of the action of electromagnetic decimetric waves (DMW) of mild and strong heat power and placebo on intraorganic circulation using functional polyrheography and morphological examination of the kidneys with infectious-inflammatory process. DMW of the above power have a marked hemodynamic action via stimulation of the circulation of the intermediary zone with an effect of redistribution of the intrarenal blood flow. Weak heat DMW in experimental pyelonephritis exhibit a distinct antiinflammatory effect while strong DMW impact aggravates vascular reaction associated with inflammation. This deteriorates the inflammation and gives rise to hyperimmune reactions. The findings provide pathogenetic grounds for DMW therapy. It is recommended for treatment of patients with chronic pyelonephritis with dynamic obstruction of the upper urinary tracts allowing for the power of the impact and activity of the inflammation.

[Comparative efficiency of correction of unfavorable effects of hypokinesia by compression of veins of lower extremities and local thermovasodilatation].

As a result of the trials it was established that occlusion of the veins in the lower limbs made by means of "Pneumatic" suit under the pressure 60 mmHg in the cuffs is as effective as local thermovasodilation in the area of feet, crura and thighs with submaximal intensity in terms of protective redistribution of blood in experimental hypokinesia. These methods can be used for correction of negative symptoms of hypokinesia. Occlusion of the veins is less effective than local thermotherapy in normalization of subjective assessment of general condition, activity, mood and reactive-situational anxiety.

[Color-physiopuncture corrections of autonomic disorders].

Investigations have shown that electromagnetic waves of color band used for physiopuncture correction of functional-dynamic condition of channel-meridional system of the body in young patients with vegetovascular asthenia of a hypertensive type lead to a regress of the clinical symptoms, normalization of arterial pressure, correction of cerebral hemodynamic disorders, recovery of normal bioelectric activity of the brain.
