Use of polytetrafluorethylene films for closing of abdominal cavity under conditions of experimental peritonitis.

Four variants of polytetrafluorethylene films differing by size of micropores and manufacturing technology were used for closing of the abdominal cavity under conditions of experimental peritonitis in rats. The results of tensiometry and planimetry helped us to select the optimal variant of polytetrafluorethylene film characterized by sufficient strength, minimum size of micropores, and causing minimum complications.

[Can perforated ulcer be not sutured?].

Experiments in 5 pigs and 18 mongrel dogs have shown the possibility to close perforating ulcers with plates of biopolymer "Tachocomb". The method is proposed as an alternative to suturing perforations in the zone of pylorus in order to prevent stenosis of the pyloric part of the stomach. The experimental data obtained have confirmed good adhesive and stimulating properties of the fibrin-collagen substance. Successful results of using the method were demonstrated in 2 patients with perforating ulcers.

[The correction of postvagotomy disorders of the motor function in the small intestine by using antihypoxants and antioxidants].

Study of the electric activity of small intestine smooth muscle in vagotomized rats demonstrated diminution and disturbance of intestinal motility. These changes were most expressed within 30 days after vagotomy. Injection of antihypoxant sodium gamma-oxybutyrate and antioxidant dibunol to the vagotomized rats resulted in normalization of intestinal motility.

[Use of dibunol in pharmacological correction of post-vagotomy hypoxia of digestive organs in rats].

1, 7, 14, 30 and 60 days after bilateral sub-diaphragmatic truncal vagotomy tension of oxygen (pO2) in liver, stomach and small intestine (jejunum) was determined. It was demonstrated that vagotomy leads to a decrease of pO2 in all investigated organs 1 day after the operation (such changes were observed in sham-operated rats) and 30 days, in jejunum--after 7 days, in liver--after 14 days, in stomach--after 60 days. Dibunol introduction in vagotomized rats during 29 days (starting from the second day after operation) results in pO2 normalization in all investigated organs.

[Electric activity of the proximal part of the digestive tract in the normal state and after pyloroplasty and transsection of the ligament of Treitz in dogs].

It is shown that the normal amplitude-frequency characteristics of the duodenojejunal flexure differ from those of the duodenum. After pyloroplasty, the electrical activity of the antrum do not change. At the region of the duodenojejunal flexure, the intensification of the electrical activity, increase in the amplitude, frequency of the slow wave and peak potentials occur. Supplementation of pyloroplasty with transection of the Treitz ligament led to suppression of the electrical activity of the antrum and duodenojejunal flexure. A conclusion about the close functional interrelation between the pylorus and duodenojejunal junction has been drawn.

[Effect of synthetic phenol antioxidants on the parietal pH value of the gastrointestinal tract in intact and vagotomized rats].

The influence of synthetic phenol antioxidants dibunol and BH-3 on the value of parietal pH has been studied in the stomach, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, caecum and rectum of intact and vagotomized rats 1, 7, 14, 30 and 60 days after treatment. It was shown that vagotomy leads to an increase in the stomach pH and to a decrease in pH in other parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Maximum BH-3 doses lead to pH increase in the stomach of intact rats. Chronic administration of therapeutic drug doses does not change pH value in control and vagotomized animals.
