[Genesis of the cardiac pain syndrome in patients with neurocirculatory dystonia].

Palpation of the chest-covering tissues was performed in 150 patients with neurocirculatory dystonia with complaints of pain in the cardiac region. In all the patients painful muscular consolidations of various size, shape and consistency were detected in the thickness of the pectoral muscles and at the sites of their transition into tendons. Direct correlation between the gravity of cardialgia and expression of the muscular pain syndrome was noted. In 98% of cases therapy aimed at the elimination of the muscular pain syndrome (repeated novocaine-hydrocortisone infiltrations) resulted in the correction or a significant decrease in a degree of cardialgia. The results obtained suggested that the cardiac pain syndrome in patients with neurocirculatory dystonia was mainly caused by local changes in the musculotendinous tissues of the chest.

[Experimental study of manganese chloride toxicity].

In experiments with rabbits is shown weak toxic action of managanese chloride (0,5 and 5 mg/kg intravenously for 2 months) on the organism of animals. The blood managanese level rose only when the element was introduced in a large dose. The ascorbic acid content in the supprarenals diminished. At the site of the preparation administration (muscles) were in evidence manifestations of irritation (necrosis with regeneration), which disappeared 2 weeks after abolishment of the preparation.

[The morphological characteristics of the fibromyalgia syndrome].

A histological and ultrastructural study of dense foci characteristics for soft tissues in fibromyalgia syndrome revealed that they consist of rough fibrillar connective tissue frequently hyalinized. Vascularization occurred at the periphery of these foci only where thin nervous fibrils and sometimes small paraganglia were seen. Severe degenerative changes of the collagen fibers, marked decrease and degeneration of fibroblasts were found electron microscopically. Signs of inflammation were absent.
