A protein (32,000 dalton) has been purified from M2FS cells derived from the murine plasmocytoma MOPC 173. Like tropomyosin, this protein when added with Ca++ to EDTA-treated plasma membranes prepared from the same cell, induced a drastic increase in the Na+/K+ atpase resistance to ouabain.
A membrane protein of M. W. 32,000 D and pI 5 has been purified from EDTA-treated plasma membrane supernatants by Page without detergents. These membranes are purified from the MF2S cell line issued from the murine plasmacytoma MOPC 173. The purified protein was able to induce a 300 fold increase in the Na+/K+ ATPase resistance to ouabaïn thus mimicking the original resistance of the enzyme to the drug.
Treatment of plasma membrane isolated from murine plasmocytoma MOPC 173 with an EDTA-containing buffer resulted in a 300-fold increase in sensitivity of (Na+ + K+)-stimulated Mg2+-ATPase to ouabain. This phenomenon was associated with the solubilization by EDTA of phospholipid free proteins (approx. 30 000-34 000 daltons) from the cytoplasmic face of the plasma membrane and with removal of about 90% of the membrane bound Ca2+. The recovery of the original resistance to ouabain required specifically Ca2+ and was associated with a binding of the solubilized proteins to the membrane.

Using the ELISA technique we have been able to quantify antibodies directed against actin and to follow the kinetics of antibody production. Specific anti-actin antisera have been raised in rabbits by immunization with chemically modified white muscle rabbit actin. Two or three dinitrophenyl groups linked per actin molecule were sufficient to break natural tolerance, while linkage of three phosphorylcholine groups to actin was not.

We report a patient with angio-immunoblastic lymphadenopathy (A.I.L.) with pulmonary localisation. The symptomatology of the A.I.L. was dominated by a polyclonal increase in gammaglobulins and a neuropathy 35 months before the generalized lymphadenopathy. We discuss this unusually long prodromal period and the nature of the neuropathy.

Liver specimens obtained by biopsy in 18 patients with asymptomatic HBs Ag were studied with specific immunofluorescent technic for this antigen by light and electron microscopy. Only insignificant changes were disclosed by routine microscopy examination. Under light microscopy "ground glass" hepatocytes were found in eight cases. Specific immunofluorescence was found positive in nine cases and was closely correlated with the "ground glass" hepatocytes in eight of them. In one on the three cases studied by electron microscopy, only spherical and tubular formations, 20 to 30 nm in diameter found in the cisternae of the smooth endoplasma reticulum in a few hepatocytes, seem to be HBs Ag.

A case associating a systemic mastocytosis and an acquired myeloperoxidase deficiency is reported. The myeloperoxydase deficiency is studied by cytochemical techniques in optical and electron microscopy and confirmed by biochemical measures. An important defect in bactericidal and candidacidal activity is demonstrated in vitro in P.N.M. The authors discuss the links between the two anomalies which might bring one more argument for the common origin of both granulocytes and mastocytes.
