[Providing amelia patients with prostheses - overtreatment? Experiences with long-term follow-ups].
Critical evaluation of the long-term follow-up experience in three patients with melia leads to the conclusion that prosthetic care must be regarded as inadequate and useless, as an instance of overtreatment. The reasons are shown, the special problems in rehabilitation of amelic patients are put forth.
[Hormonal treatment of hypophyseal dwarfism, a cause of epiphyseolisthesis capitis femoris? (author's transl)].
Two cases of hypophyseal proportional dwarfism which were treated by hormones are reported. After the treatment had been finished the epiphyseal cartilage remained persistent over a long period. Moreover, in both patients an epiphyseolisthesis capitis femoris occurred in their third decennium. A causal nexus is discussed.
[The operative therapy of the acquired pes plano-valgus and pes planus of the child (author's transl)].
The author shows the importance of the development of the leg axis for the diagnosis and the indication for the treatment of the acquired infantile pes plano-valgus and pes planus. Only when this development is finished an operative therapy can be indicated. The experience gained on a very treat number ofpatients shows that it is evident that the best method is the transposition of the tendons M. fib. III or IV. The author also discusses the reasons for indication and the limitation of this operation. (The author prefers the modified techniques of K. Niederecker (1959) based on the idea of E. Müller (1903).
[The etiopathogenesis of hammer toe flatfoot (author's transl)].
In consideration of the present literature and the analysis of their own 15 cases the authors present their theory of etiopathogenesis. A primary or secondary pes planus is the primary deformity. The muscle is the cause of the definitio deformity: the hammer toe flatfoot.
[Etiopathogenesis of loosening after total hip replacement (author's transl)].
We analyzed 30 cases of loosening of different hip-totalendoprotheses (Weber-Huggler, Müller-Charnley, McKee-Ferrar and Brunswick), intraoperative known as aseptic loosening. Especially is shown that also by those protheses with a part of polyäthylen there is the same histological picture as by those protheses of Weber-Huggler with the head of polyester: "the aggressive Granuloma". There is only a gradually difference and the "maligne Osteolysis" was not so excessive.

A small experimental study on rats in orthopedics shows that it is impossible to achieve constant bipedy as a basis for valid static and biomechanic investigations, particularly of the spine.

According to a large group of patients there is demonstrated the "symptomatic" dislocation of patella. It is a part of a system-disease, especially Onycho-osteo-arthro-dysplasia. Arthrogryposis multiplex. Freeman-Sheldon-syndrome, mongolism and children with debility or imbecility. There are discussed their pathogenesis and any consequences for diagnosis and treatment.
[Early experiences with ultrasound osteosynthesis. Preliminary report (author's transl)].
The authors report their first results and experiences with a new method of osteosynthesis, which was introduced by soviet authors in 1973. A mixture of cyanacryl and bonepowder is used under the influence of ultrasonic waves for union of bones. Technological and animal experiments are being carried out at this time.
