[Phosphate metabolism in the mineral matrix of intact bones and after single and multiple fractures].

The level of mineral matrix phosphates in unbroken bones was investigated in rats with isolated and multiple fractures. It was found out that in bones lying close to the broken one the phosphates exchange shifts were similar to the changes happening in the region of the trauma. On the resorption stage the phosphates level in the nearby intact tissue decreases, during the bone callus formation it increases, and in the process of remodelling decreases again. The authors suggest that this zone should be identified under the term "trauma field".

[Space-time organization of bone tissue remodeling in vertebral bodies after femur osteotomy].

Roentgenometric and roentgenodensitometric chronobiological characteristics of space and time remodeling of the bone tissue in tail vertebra XI and XII after osteotomy of the right femur are described. Examination of 179 white non-inbred male rats revealed circadian periodicity of vertebral bone tissue remodeling. Dynamics of asymmetry of this process also has a circadian periodicity.

[The effect of pain caused by multiple trauma on gamma-aminobutyric acid metabolism and the functional condition of animals].

Multiple injury to the bone tissue in rats caused changes of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) metabolism manifested first by activation of its synthesis and then by inhibition of enzymatic inactivation and increase in GABA content in the brain. The initial reaction of the GABA system was attended by a loss of total body and thymus weight, increase in adrenal weight, and bicocculin- and picrotoxin-sensitive hypoalgesia in the tail-flick test. The subsequent changes of GABA-ergic transmission developed during restoration of the animals' functional condition but body weight loss persisted. It is suggested that activation of the GABA system is a defence reaction tending to intensify the inhibition processes and increase the activity of the brain antinociceptive systems.
