In this work we present experimental results concerning electrode sheath and ion flux formation near a concave electrode with the dimension of a cavity comparable to the electrode sheath length. It is shown that the secondary electron emission can play a crucial role in plasma molding over the electrode surface. It is also observed that plasma has a tendency to "self-leakage" in electrode cavities.
Most of cells exhibit low nuclear level of NF-kappaB. However, in some cell lines and tissues aberrantly activated NF-kappaB is playing an important role in cell motility, growth control and survival. Here we describe the result of decrease of constitutive NF-kappaB level in different adenocarcinoma cell lines. Treatment of mouse adenocarcinoma cell line CSML-100 with both synthetic (TPCK or PDTC) or natural (I(kappaB)-alpha) NF-kappaB inhibitors caused apoptotic death. Low doses of TPCK were harmless for CSML100 cells but sensitized them to TNF-induced apoptosis. Death of CSML100 cells in the presence of high concentration TPCK was not accompanied with significant changes in c-myc activity but strongly correlated with rapid decrease in p53 level. Thus, mutual behavior p53 and NF-kappaB represented a unique feature of TPCK-induced apoptosis in CSML-100 adenocarcinoma cells.
At examination of 120 patients with lymphedema of the lower extremities, in 70% of them, structure and function of lymphangion were preserved. State of lymphangion is of great importance in substantiation of the tactics of treatment. In preserved morphofunctional properties of lymphangion, the operation of lymphovenous shunting is effective in 83% of the patients. Stimulation of contractile activity of the lymphatic vessels at the stages of in-patient, out-patient treatment and that in sanatoria and health resorts contributes to improvement of a result of treatment of the patients.

Analysis of exhaled breath condensate (EBC) is a new prospective method for monitoring of inflammation and oxidative stress in lungs. The most extensively studied exhaled biomarker is nitric oxide (NO). It has very short life span and is converted into nitrites (NO2-) and nitrates (NO3-). In this study the level of NO2- and total level of NO2-/NO3- have been measured in EBC of smokers and non-smokers. Prior determination of NO2-/NO3- the nitrates were reduced to nitrites with zinc, and total level of NO2- was detected by Griess reaction. The mean concentrations of NO2 in EBC of non-smokers and smokers were 2.9 +/- 0.22 Mmol/ vs. 8.5 +/- 1.2 Mmol/l (mean +/- SD, p < 0.001). The level of total nitrites NO2-/NO3- was also higher in smokers (5.65 +/- 0.68 vs. 14.6 +/- 1.43; p < 0.001). Variability index was 8%. Recovery of NO3- from standard solutions was 93.4 +/- 9.6%, and 91.6 +/- 8.9% from EBC. We recommend zinc reduction as good and simple method for NO3- determination in EBC.
