A new method for making casts from irreversible hydrocolloid impressions.

This method of making casts from alginate (irreversible hydrocolloid) edentulous impressions is a departure from the usual procedures. It consists of recognizing the weaknesses of the materials being used and handling them to the best advantage to minimize deleterious effects. A proper dental stone mixed with an accelerator is painted over the entire anatomic surface of the impression. A base is added only after the first application of stone sets. This method protects against volume change of the irreversible hydrocolloid impression material and distortion of the unsupported portions of the impression.

[Adhesion of artificial teeth to polymethacrylate resins].

UNLABELLED: In this study the microleakage is first tested between the poly-methylméthacrylate resins used in removable partial denture and the artificial teeth after storage in 100% humidity at 37 degrees C or after aging by an hydrothermal fatigue stress. Then the porcelain butt joint was improved by pyrolytic silanization. MATERIALS: A metallic flask was realized, in this study, to polymerize strictly identical samples. RESULTS: Due to polymerization in 100% humidity, the silane bond will be destroyed. Thermo-or chemopolymerizing resins are the only resins to allow the bonding with porcelain teeth by means of the sandwich technic.

[Codification of kinematic properties of prefabricated precision attachments].

In classifying by numbers their fundamental movements, one can expect, on the basis of certain principles, to give with precision the kinematic proprieties of a particular attachment. This method to describe prefabricated attachment, is concise, clear, explicit and comprehensive internationalLy. It facilitates the choice of attachment and allows further mutual understanding between practionner and technicians.
