[Stent-graft use in endovascular neurosurgery].

The authors describe 2 clinical observations of the use of stent-grafts (polymer film-covered stents) in endovascular neurosurgery. In one case, a stent-graft was used to perform a reparative endovascular operation for the carotid-cavernous fistula; in the other the vertebral artery was stented at the origin of an afferent vessel of arteriovenous malformation of the spinal cord. The prospects for using endovascular prostheses in the surgery of extra- and intracranial vessels are discussed.

Carotid Artery Injuries↗

[A craniofacial approach to disseminated tumors of the anterior portions of the cranial base].

The authors have developed a modified craniofacial approach. Its essence is to extend a facial cut along the mid-forehead after Weber-Fergusson into the frontoparietotemporal region, by forming a common soft tissue craniofacial graft. The above access was used in 17 patients with benign tumors of the base of the skull, involved into the ethmoidal sinus, anterior cranial fossa, medial portions of one or both eye sockets, sphenoidal sinus, medial portions of one or both maxillary sinuses, nasal cavity, and nasopharynx. The use of this access increases the radical rate of removal of extended craniofacial tumors. The specific policy features of surgery and postoperative management.

[Intravascular blood coagulation in patients with acute destructive cholecystitis with paravesical infiltration].

Data are submitted on changes in the system of regulation of the aggregate state of blood, that result in the development of the second stage of intravascular hemocoagulation syndrome in patients with destructive forms of cholecystitis presenting with paravesicular infiltration in the preoperative period. Disruptions in hemostasis remain after surgery, which fact attests to the need for working out efficient pathogenetically validated methods of correction thereof for the combined treatment of the pathology in question to be raised to a much higher level.
