[Structure of the microflora of suppurative wounds and its sensitivity to antibiotics].

Clinico-bacteriological examination of patients with purulent infections showed that Staphylococcus was the predominating microflora in the wounds. Simultaneously an increasing role of gram-negative conditionally pathogenic bacteria was shown. Multiple drug resistance was found in the organisms tested. The highest sensitivity levels were observed to gentamicin, kanamycin, tetracycline, levomycetin. It was shown by means of special typing methods that staphylococci of phage group III and Ps. Aeruginosa of serotype II predominated in the infected wounds. When the pathological material contained the antibiotic resistant cultures of Ps. aeruginosa, Proteus, Klebsiella and toxigenic strains of Staphylococcus, a tendency for prolongation of the suppurative process was observed.

Abscess

[Treatment of gastrointestinal polyps].

The brief historical information concerning the stages in endoscopic polypectomy development is given. Indications and contraindications to polypectomy by means of modern fiberendoscopes are formulated. The results of 409 polypectomies accomplished by means of endoscopes are analysed. The method of electroexcision of polyps is described, and it is to be emphasized that the former is the most radical one among the currently used technics of polypectomy. Attention is paid not only to great therapeutic efficacy of the operation but also to its economic effectiveness.

Colonic Neoplasms

[A clinico-electroneurographic study of brachial plexitis in young children].

In order to study the clinico-electroneurographical correlations in early brachial plexitis of the newborn the authors studied 118 children from the moment of birth up to 1.5-4 years. The depicted disorders were divided into 4 groups: the upper form of Duchenne-Erb--48 cases; the lower forms of Dejerine-Klumpke--27 cases; total forms--31 cases and bilateral forms--12 cases. The most favourable development could be marked in the Duchenne-Erb forms while the most severe development was seen in total forms. The authors stress that electroneurographical studies permit to evaluate objectively the severity of affection, the degree of motor function restoration, the effectiveness of treatment and the prognosis of the disease.
