The functional state of the myocardium was studied in 45 white Wistar rats in the early stages of chronic renal insufficiency. After resection of 4/6 of the renal parenchyma the initial stage of chronic renal insufficiency was created with the urea level in blood serum 7.0-10.0 mmol/l with normal content of electrolytes (duration of observation lasting 1.3 to 6 months). Towards the 3rd month myocardial hypertrophy developed in animals with statistically significant increase of the cardiac mass by 18-20%, not related to enhancement of haemodynamic load on the heart. Arterial pressure remains normal. Hypertrophy of the myocardium as shown by histochemistry was accompanied by increase of energy and protein metabolism, carbohydrates decreased simultaneously due to the decrease of myocardium tolerance to glucose.

107 patients were examined in different terms after vagotomy (up to 6 years) performed for ulcerous disease of the duodenum, 43 of them--prior to and after the operation. It is found that the suppression of the acid- and enzyme secretory function of the stomach is not related to the development of the mucosa atrophy, but it is conditioned by eliminating the resolving role of vagus nerves and by a reduced sensitivity of fundic glands to humoral stimuli.

The protective effect produced on the kidneys in tourniquet shock by thiol agents possessing antioxidant properties (unithiol, cystamine) was compared with that of a preparation of cell capsules of L. bulgaricus (CCLB). Tourniquet shock was modeled under ether Raush anesthesia by applying 8 turns of a rubber tourniquet to the hind limbs for 6 hours. Thirty minutes before removal of the tourniquet animals of the first group were given an injection of 1 ml of physiological solution, animals of the second group--20 mg/kg of unithol, those of the third group received an injection of 20 mg/kg of cystamine hydrochloride. Animals of the fourth group received 50 mg/kg of CCLB in 1 ml of physiological solution 7 days before the experiment. A marked protective effect of CCLB on the kidneys in tourniquet shock was established. According to the degree of the protective effect on the tissue of kidneys in tourniquet shock, the studied agents come in the following order: CCLB, cystamine, unithiol.
62 women in 38-40 weeks gestation were examined, 37 of them had normal delivery, whereas others (25) with uterine inertia, had delivery by Cesarean section. In the fetal membranes preparations nitric oxide production, interleukins -1beta and -6, arachidonic acid content and phospholipase A2 activity (limiting the rate of prostaglandin biosynthesis) were examined. In the case of uterine inertia increase of nitric oxide generation, decrease of interleukins and arachidonic acid levels and phospholipase A2 activity was found. Modulation of nitric oxide production with inhibitors and activators allowed to emphasize the role of NO in regulation of cytokine response and control of initial stages of prostaglandins synthesis.
