A novel pathogenetic approach to treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN) as a severe complication of diabetes mellitus is aimed at inhibiting DN progression or its involution by means of reestablishment of heparan sulfate synthesis by glycosaminoglycane drug. In the study of 9 patients with microalbuminuria and 9 with proteinuria this drug was low-molecular heparin-sulodexide (Alfa-Wasserman, Italy). The treatment course of 3 weeks resulted in albuminuria fall in 89% of patients. In patients with microalbuminuria protein excretion returned to normal values in a week of treatment. This effect was persistent after the drug discontinuation. This was not so for protein excretion in proteinuria patients which became low after 3 weeks of treatment, but the effect was not long-lasting. The authors believe that glycosaminoglycanes hold great promise in DN, especially at early stages of renal diabetic affection.
Experimental and clinical investigations showed good prospects of further studies of deformation characteristics of Akryloxide, particularly the elasticity module to judge of the degree of biological destruction of the plastics and possible prognosis of working efficiency of the polymer in individual endoprosthesis of joints.
The authors describe results of the individual endoprosthesis of joints and defects of extremity bones in 84 patients treated for skeleton tumors. In 80 of them positive results were obtained. In three patients the results were unfavourable. There were no complications due to the construction of individual endoprostheses.

Experience with the treatment of 108 patients with fractures and false joints of the neck of the hip (79 observations) and bone tumors (29 observations) is described. An original method of individual endoprosthezing was used. The individual endoprosthesis was shown to give better results in some respects as compared with those obtained by usual methods, e. g. a dislocation of the endoprosthesis was practically excluded. A complete conformity of the form and size of the prosthesis improves the biomechanics of the articulation.

The constructive features of the Ilizarov apparatus with some additional details enabled the authors to use perosseous distractional osteosynthesis for the treatment of different foot deformities in 52 patients (61 feet) in the clinic following the developed techniques. Other conditions being equal, the method of distraction makes it possible to iliminate the foot deformity and at the same time to make it longer which can not be achieved by other methods.
Under analysis were remote sequellae of fresh closed fractures of crus bones with a displacement of bone fragments in 305 patients within the period from 5 to 15 years. Other conditions being equal, the use of extrafocal osteosynthesis was found to result in the least number of pathological conditions.
The four-step system for the treatment of traumatological patients contributes to earlier rehabilitation and shortens the time fo staying in hospitals. It also decreases the invalidism percentage.

The author has developed an original method of endoprothetics of joints (application N 2651054/13). Endoprothesis is fabricated from plastics to a cast taken from the removed articular end of the bone. This allows to manifacture an exact replica. An individual endoprothetics has been used successfuly in the treatment of 12 patients with fractures and pseudoarthroses of the femoral neck.

A new method of operative treatment for hallux valgus consists in a derotational osteotomy of the first metatarsal bone and adductorotenotomy, that allows a correction of the deformity without an operation on the first metatarsophalangeal joint. A total of 67 patients were operated upon (81 operations). Late results were followed up in 48 patients (59 operations). Excellent and good results after the operation were noted in 47, satisfactory-in 10 and poor-in 2 observations. The operation is thought to be indicated in marked deformities.
