[Changes in reproductive function during chronic isolation and increases in the population density of rats with different typologic behavioral characteristics].

It has been shown on white outbred female rats that animals with a strong balanced mobile nervous system and active-search behaviour had the greatest stress resistence against the action of chronic isolation and increase of population density. Weak non-balanced excitable animals with non-directed motor restlessness had a minimal resistence against stress.

[Effect of the type of reinforcement on conditioned reflex activity in male and female white rats].

On 24 males and 26 females of white rats of a mixed line, a study was carried out of the speed of formation and consolidation of instrumental drinking and defensive conditioned reflexes, elaboration of differentiation, changes in conditioned activity by the use of stochastic stereotype and by changing the meanings of the conditioned signals to opposite. Conditioned reflexes were elaborated more rapidly in female rats at drinking reinforcement and in male rats--at the defensive one. Differentiations were elaborated more rapidly and were better expressed in females than in males at both types of reinforcement.

[Forward and backward connections in instrumental drinking conditioned reflexes in rats].

Stabilization of instrumental drinking conditioned reflexes in rats is attended with a more frequent manifestation of backward connection. In response to the conditioned signal the first to appear is a classical conditioned reflex: the rat licks the drinking cup. This is followed by pressing the bar (manifestation of backward connection) after which the rat drinks the water (forward connection). When drinking, the rat tonically presses the bar (backward connection). During the rest of the session, phasic motor reactions prevail. Individual variations of frequency of backward connections manifestations were established in different rats.

[Importance of reinforcement to differentiation of instrumental conditioned reflex signals in rats].

Differentiation to reflexes with defensive reinforcement is elaborated in deprived rats more readily and is more pronounced than to those with drinking reinforcement. This is also confirmed in other experimental series: with a transfer to reinforcement of both positive and differentiation signals, with reversal of their significance, with a stochastic stereotype, with drawing closer the pitch of the differentiation and positive tones. In a stereotype of alternating positive reflexes with drinking reinforcement and of their differentiations, the animals' reactions are predominantly linked to the alternation of signals, while in the case of defensive reinforcement they are linked to the acoustic signals.
