[Problems of pulmonary pathology in drug addicts].

The hospitalisation of a group of drug addicts with pulmonary diseases leads to an examination of the relationship between drug addiction and bronchopneumopathies in the light of experience and reported data. After a brief examination of cases, the most frequently observed forms of bronchopulmonary disease are reviewed together with differences in the clinical course of the diseases in drug-addicted and other patients.

[Tuberculosis in dialysis patients].

Seven cases of T.B. were observed in 300 patients subjected to dialysis in period 30.4.1977-30.1.1980. This frequency is much higher than that in the ordinary population. An account is given of the statistical and clinical aspects of this morbid associations. The way in which it can be treated is also discussed.

[Bipedal lymphography in mediastino-pulmonary sarcoidosis. Report concerning 9 cases].

The relevant literature is briefly reviewed and lymphographic data obtained from 9 patients admitted to the S. L. Gonzaga Hospital are examined. In all cases, the diagnosis of sarcoidosis had been given prior to lymphography and confirmed histologically. This small series helps to show the extent of lymph node lesions in sarcoidosis and the more commonly observed adenographic features.

[The problem of the second tumor. Case study].

All patients admitted to the San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital in 1979 with bronchial carcinomas were examined. The survey showed that 4,07% of the cases had a previous malignant neoplasm, a much higher percentage than encountered in the population as a whole.

[Physiokinesitherapy in thoracic surgery].

The importance of physiokinesitherapy in the prevention and cure of postoperative complications is emphasised. Thoracic as well as general and other specialised surgery is shown to benefit from physiokinesitherapy exercises. The postoperative complications most likely to benefit from physiokinesitherapy are listed, the techniques most often used in thoracic cases are described and two routine pre- and postoperative programmes are outlined. In conclusion a more widespread systematic use of physiokinesitherapy after thoracic surgery is recommended.

[Role of respiratory physiokinetic therapy in general surgery].

The applications of respiratory physiokinesitherapy in general surgery are considered. Emphasis is placed on its importance in the prevention and management of complications venous thrombosis and embolia, in the conservation of muscle strength, and as routine pre- and postoperative management.
