[The volume of vision in computerized static perimetry in the diagnosis and observation o f glaucoma].

The authors present the influence of glaucoma on the volume of vision for 62 points evenly situated in the range of the 30 degrees parallel with exclusion of the points to 10 degrees and points from the macular sphere. Investigations have been carried out by means of a computerized system of static perimetry PERS. The comparison included 250 patients with defects of the visual field typical for various grades of glaucoma and a control group consisting of healthy persons. The analysis of results suggests that the volume of vision constitutes a parameter facilitating the comparison of prints of the visual field as well as the evaluation of field defects in glaucoma.

[What is the visual field?].

Eye movements were recorded in the course of visual field determination. The behaviour of the eye is various in different persons, defying any rule, except, contrary to the definition of the visual field, it does not remain immobile but executes one or more saccades. Discussing the results the authors present a new concept of the visual field.

[The SRK formula for calculating the power of intraocular anterior-chamber lenses].

Presented is the evaluation of the usefulness of the SRK formula for the calculation of the power of the intraocular anterior chamber lens of Pannu type. This accuracy is characterised by the value of the postoperative deviation of refraction of the operated eye. It has been noticed that the value of this deviation is fluctuating in the early postoperative period. Its stabilization comes out not before the 6th-9th month after surgery. This points out to the necessity of calculating the correcting coefficient A for the SRK formula into the late postoperative period.
