A case of pyoderma vegetans (PYV) and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is described. Our patient had a previous history of perifolliculitis capitis abscedens et suffodiens and acne conglobata. Direct immunofluorescence findings ruled out pemphigus vegetans and suggested a potential pathogenic mechanism.

A case of recurrent squamous cell carcinoma under a skin flap as confirmed and delineated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is described. This report illustrates a potentially new indication for MRI in clinical dermatology, namely, to define skin cancer recurrences under skin flaps and grafts and to determine the extent of underlying tissue involvement. The cost-effectiveness of MRI and the use of gadolinium, an MRI contrast agent, in the evaluation of skin tumors are also addressed.

Fixed drug eruptions due to Tylenol (paracetamol, acetaminophen) are very rare. The authors report two additional cases and review the literature.
A young man had asymptomatic, confluent, annular erythematous/violaceous plaques on the trunk and extremities. Pathology showed a moderately dense dermal infiltrate of spindle cells characterized as non-X histiocytes by immunohistology and ultrastructural analysis. We believe this is an unusual form of diffuse histiocytosis and should be classified as a variant of generalized granuloma annulare.
Recently, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been reported to be clinically useful, in selected cases, in patients with melanocytic skin lesions. This report describes good resolution, clinically useful MRI scans of squamous cell carcinoma, dermatofibroma, and primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma. The tumor depth measured by MRI was in excellent correlation with Breslow's depth measurements, indicating that MRI is probably the radiologic technique of choice for preoperative evaluation of the extent and depth of primary and recurrent skin tumors. This report also provides the authors' recommendations for obtaining optimal MRI images of cutaneous lesions.

A case is reported of a 74-year-old white man who developed generalized allergic contact dermatitis from formaldehyde present in a liquid soap. The patient had a 2+ positive patch test reaction to formaldehyde, which was present as a preservative in the soap at 0.1% concentration. His dermatitis cleared when he switched to a nonformaldehyde-containing bar soap. The cause of the contact dermatitis was covert to both physician and patient before patch testing. Since registration with the Food and Drug Administration of formaldehyde-containing soaps is voluntary, it is likely that there are more soaps on the market than the six registered as of June 1988.
A patient with primary cutaneous B cell lymphoma that presented as a solitary nodule on the abdomen was successfully treated with local radiotherapy. A brief review of special studies used to diagnose this tumor as well as clinical characteristics of the tumor is presented.

This is the first literature report on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination of cutaneous melanocytic or any other type of skin lesions. Good resolution, clinically useful MRI scans of a congenital nevus and a metastatic melanoma to the skin are presented. The potential usefulness of MRI technique to physicians dealing with cutaneous disease is discussed.
