Ulcerative posthitis in bulls in Uruguay.

Ulcerative posthitis in bulls in Uruguay is described; 1096 bulls in 17 different establishments were examined. The incidence of bulls grazing on improved pasture was 32.9% in those under one year and 80.8% in animals of 18 to 36 months of age. Bulls grazing on natural pasture showed an incidence of 63.5% in adult animals irrespective of age. Histologic characteristics of the preputial lesions were acanthosis, parakeratosis and hyperkeratosis followed by invasion of leukocytes in the epithelium and ulceration. Corynebacterium renale was isolated from 59 of 204 prepuces. Based on the isolation of C. renale, histological lesions and the greater incidence in animals on high planes of nutrition, it is postulated that the lesion is due primarily to production of ammonia following the hydrolization of urea by the organism.

Factors which determine the accumulation of immunoblasts in gut and skin.

The capacity of immunoblasts from two sources (1) peripheral lymph nodes draining the site of application of a contact sensitizer and (2) mesenteric lymph nodes from mice infected with the gut parasite T. spiralis to migrate to the gut and to inflamed skin sites were compared. The peripheral lymph node blasts readily entered skin sites in a non-specific way but failed to migrate to the gut even when inflammation was induced. By contrast, the mesenteric lymph node blasts readily migrated to the gut in normal mice and in increased amounts to the gut of mice infected with T. spiralis or inflamed with oral turpentine. A small proportion of mesenteric lymph node blasts did, however, migrate, non-specifically to the skin but in much smaller amounts than peripheral lymph node blasts. We conclude that the migration of immunoblasts to the gut has some specificity related to the source from which the cells were taken but little specificity with regard to intraluminal antigen.

[Ameloblastic transformation of an odontogenic cyst].

The author relate a case of ameloblastic changing in an odontologenic cyst located in the anterior region of the mandible, in a man fifty-four years old. They comment the importance of a complete examination when someone finds a pathology.

Ameloblastoma

[Study of caries using axial-mesial-distal sections and interproximal and periapical radiographs with paralleling and bisecting technics].

The authors, considering the radiographic complementary survey importance in Operative Dentistry, has made an analysis on the three main radiologic technics (Bite-Wing and Bisecting Angle and Paralleling Technic), in an attempt to compare the per cent magnification grade of the carious lesion radiographic image, by measurements taken at the tooth sections, and over the patient's radiographs, to contribute with a more accurate diagnosis performed by the dentist.
