[An unusual testicular tumour: splenogonadal fusion].

Splenogonadal fusion is a rare congenital anomaly that is often discovered at operation or autopsy. The diagnosis is difficult, but could be based on preoperative scintigraphy and frozen section histological examination to avoid useless orchidectomy. It is a benign lesion, which must be distinguished from testicular tumour.

[Micropapillary bladder carcinoma].

Micropapillary bladder carcinoma is a recently described, rare variant of urothelial carcinoma reputed for its poor prognosis. The authors report the case of a 59-year-old man with invasive bladder tumour presenting with haematuria. Histological examination of resection chips revealed the typical histological features of high nuclear grade micropapillary carcinoma with invasion of the musculosa and the presence of numerous endolymphatic emboli. The authors discuss the clinicopathological and pathogenic features, treatment and clinical course of this tumour.

[Solitary fibrous retroperitoneal tumour: report of two cases].

Solitary fibrous tumours are benign tumours, described for the first time by Klemperer and Rabin in 1931. They are mesenchymal tumours which usually arise in the pleura, while retroperitoneal sites have been rarely described. The authors report two cases of very large retroperitoneal tumours in two men aged 58 and 47 years, respectively, who consulted for abdominopelvic vaulting associated with gastrointestinal and urinary disorders. Ultrasound-guided biopsy suggested the diagnosis preoperatively in one case. In the light of these cases, the authors present a review of the main extrapleural sites described to date, as well as the most characteristic radiological, histological and immunohistochemical features in order to facilitate the diagnosis.

[Inverted papilloma of the ureter: a case report].

Inverted urothelial papilloma is a rare tumour particularly in the ureter. It is difficult to distinguish microscopically from low-grade urothelial carcinoma, inverted type. The authors report a new case of ureteric inverted papilloma in a 64-year-old man and discuss the histological diagnostic criteria, clinical features and prognosis of this tumour.

[Encrusted cystitis].

Encrusted cystitis is a chronic inflammation of the bladder mucosa associated with calcified deposits induced by numerous bacteria in an alkaline medium. Corynebacterium urealyticum or group D2 is most frequently incriminated. Encrusted cystitis is a rare disease with non-specific clinical features. The diagnosis may be suspected on imaging, but is often only established later on histological findings. Treatment of this disease is based on appropriate antibiotics with acidification of the urine. The authors report a new case of encrusted cystitis in a 78-year-old woman and review the literature on encrusted lesions of the urinary tract.
