[Usher's syndrome].

PURPOSE: to show the manner of diagnose of this syndrome and to evaluate the possibilities of treatment MATERIAL AND METHOD--there are shown: --ophthalmological and ENT clinical examination --visual field test--adaptometry--audiometry --impedance--auditive evoked potentials--cataract extraction (phacoemulsification). RESULTS: After cataract extraction the visual acuity increase. CONCLUSIONS: For the diagnosis we need both the diagnosis of retinitis pigmentosa and neurosensorial deafness. For the certainty of the diagnosis genetic tests are required. The treatment of associate ocular pathology may increase the visual status.

[Visual fields defects in cerebral hemorrhagic vascular accident].

Interpretation of the fields of vision forms a key part of ophthalmic and neurologic examinations. The homonymous hemianopa is a hallmark of a retrochiasmal lesion. Postchiasmal lesions that interrupt the visual pathway may have multiple causes which the circulatory disturbances is one of the most important. The authors present the case of a woman who has an isolated homonymous hemianopa produced by a vascular accident of occipital lobe, dwell upon the only manifestation of the cerebral acute hemorrhagic vascular accident was represented by an visual field defect.

[Secondary cataract; correlations concerning lens surgery and pseudophakia type. Therapeutic aspects].

The study presents the correlations concerning the advent of the secondary cataract depending on the surgical technique and pseudofak type (PMMA, acrylic, siliconic), as well the safety and efficacy of the YAG: Nd capsulotomy. A 3 years clinical retrospective trial was done on 320 eyes operated for senile cataract. The incidence of the secondary cataract was 11.4%, usually after 12 months, (the lower in phacoemulsification using acrylic IOL). Nd: YAG capsulotomy being done in cases with visual acuity lower than 0.6.
