New updates in diabetes.
The National Institutes of Health (2004) recently stated that "less than 12 percent of people with diagnosed diabetes meet the recommended goals for blood glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol despite a great deal of research showing that controlling these conditions dramatically delays or prevents diabetes complications" (p. 1). As more people are diagnosed as having diabetes and admitted to hospitals, healthcare providers need to stay current with the treatments and medicines available.
