[Peritoneal cyst--a case report].

Peritoneal cysts are rare benign tumors of the abdominal and pelvic peritoneum. We present a case of 26 year old patient with a peritoneal cyst treated operatively.

[Views of pathologists and clinicians on autopsy].

The study was performed using questionnaires which were filled in by 114 pathologists and 210 clinicians. The pathologists considered the major attractive professional motivations to be the elucidation of clinical aspects and possibility to be engaged in biopsy diagnosis, the most unattractive thing was a small salary. The clinicians supported the view that an autopsy was obligatory, the ratio of supporters to ++nonsupporters among clinicians and pathologists being 2.5:1 and 1:1, respectively. The average expected autopsy cost is 50 levs, but its real one is 84 levs. The overload of dissectors decreases the quality of autopsies and requires the revision of their performance rates. Pathologists's specialization, contact with clinicians, and labour safety are also discussed in the paper. It is only one half of the clinicians who are able to determine which disease is the major one. The death certificates that are filled in by a physician are insignificant (20% of errors are due to improper diagnosis of the major disease). The authors believe that it is high time to set up a national pathoanatomical record office equipped with computers.

[Structural organization of the tubular system of the internal renal medulla interstitial cells].

The tubular system of renal medulla interstitial cells includes multitubular complexes, mucrotubules and megatubules. Multitubular complexes are compact masses consisting of dozens of crosscut thin-walled tubular lumens. Megatubules are 2500 A in diameter, up to 5.25 micron in length, with the wall 120 A thick, and are grouped into bundles consisting of 3 to 44 megatubules. The elements of the tubular system have contacts with cell membrane pores, with each other, with parts of vesicles, lipid granules and with the nuclear membrane. It is assumed that megatubules are formed of tubuline. There are reasons to associate their appearance with the necessity of enzymatic transformation of granules of interstitial cells reaching a critical mass, the cells containing prostaglandine precursors. Megatubules become atrophied when prostaglandine-synthetase is inhibited by indometacine.

[Ultrastructural study of the interstitial cells of the internal kidney medulla exposed to indomethacin].

Unusual cylindrical bodies-megatubules, which get in touch with lipid granules with granular endoplasmatic reticulum among themselves and with the pores of the nuclear and cellular membrane, are described in the interstitial cells of the kidneys of the control rats. After a suppression of prostaglandin synthesis with indomethacin (5 mg/kg venously of intraperitonealy per day for 6 days) there was statistically significant increase of the mass of the compact lipids in the interstitial cells (hypergranulation as the volume of the granule was preserved) - a proof that the granules contained precursors of renal prostaglandins. The nuclei were presented with round contours, while the perinuclear spaces were narrowed. The Goldgi apparatus and granular endoplasmic reticulum hyperthrophied. The megatubules atrophied. The authors suggest that they have prostaglandin synthetase activity.
