There is a significant increase in the percentage and absolute number of activated lymphocytes (OKT10+, IL2R1+) after ECT treatment of major depressive disorder. There is an acute decrease in the absolute number of total lymphocytes, T8+ and Leu11+ cells one hour after a single ECT.

Recent developments of Psychoneuroimmunology and Neuroimmunomodulation presented at the Second International Workshop on Neuroimmunomodulation (Dubrovnik 1-6 June 1986) are summarized. The bidirectional nature of the relationship between the central nervous system and the immune system is stressed.
This epidemiological study in a psychiatric emergency ward demonstrates the existence of a population in Psychosocial Crisis. An operational definition of Psychosocial Crisis is proposed on the basis of psychopathological and psychosocial scales. Suicide attempts are extremely frequent in this population. It appears to be very difficult to bring a prospective study in an emergency ward to a successful conclusion.
A patient suffering from phobic nevrose has presented a depressive episode. The author is concerned with the psychodynamic and transferential signification of her oppositional attitude toward antidepressive drugs and her more positive, but rapid, attitude to the anxiolytic drugs. It appears that problem concerning the identification to the father, the public incorporation and penis desire determine the phobia toward the antidepressive drug. The self administration of anxiolytic drugs and his transferential elements explain the positive attitude to them.
