[Effect of constant electric current on energy metabolism and ultrastructure of the isolated rat heart in the course of its post-ischemic reperfusion].

It is established, using Langendorff's perfusion method, that the constant current improves the energetic metabolism of the isolated heart during its reoxygenation. The constant current increases the intensity of the succinate oxidation, exerts a membrane stabilizing effect on the cardiomyocytes, stimulates intracellular reparative processes in the damaged myocardium.

[The characteristics of the mechanism of action in the electro- and ultraphonophoresis of brine and mud preparations].

Rat experiments with short-life radionuclides revealed a marked differences in the action of dry mud extract and dry brine in spite of the fact that their composition was almost similar. Galvanization and ultrasound induce effects acting differently on accumulation of chemical elements from brine and mud in the body and skin of both healthy animals and those with induced diseases. These differences in the action of the above natural compounds of the same type should be considered when planning physiobalneotherapeutic rehabilitation complexes.

Acute Disease↗

[The effect of transcardiac galvanization on energy metabolism and the size of the area of the heart muscle lesion in experimental myocardial infarct].

A study was made of effects of transcardiac galvanization (TCG) on activities of a panel of oxidation-reduction enzymes as well as on the cardiac muscle content of high energy substrates, and size of the lesion area, in experimental myocardial infarction (EMI) in 50 albino male rats. After two TCG procedures, and at 24-h EMI, augmentation was found of activities of succinic dehydrogenase, lactate dehydrogenase, NADH-dehydrogenase, beta-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase, both in the area of profound ischemia and peri-infarction myocardium, this being accompanied with an increase in myocardial content of adenosine triphosphate, creatine phosphate, and glycogen, and reduction of the developing mass of necrosis. Stimulation of enzyme activity in the course on the enzyme complex and membrane-stabilizing action of this preformed physical factor.

[The efficacy of vibration and traction in correcting contractures of the joints (an experimental study)].

The experiments on rabbits with modelled articular contracture established a marked corrective effect of simultaneous exposure of the rabbits to vibration and traction. Clinical trials in patients with traumas of the peripheral nerves complicated by articular contractures provided evidence for high efficacy of combined rehabilitation including vibration and traction methods.

[The effect of the combined action of applications of sapropel and of a nonuniform permanent magnetic field on the dynamics of the recovery processes in damage to the liver parenchyma (experimental research)].

Effectiveness of applications of saprol and nonuniform constant magnetic field (NUCMF) used alone and in combination was studied on the model of experimental toxic rat hepatitis. NUCMF had no advantages over saprol in correction of hepatic tissue function. However, combination of these two modalities was more effective than each of them. Possible mechanisms of such effect are discussed.

Analysis of Variance↗

[A comparative evaluation of the effect of different types of sapropel on dynamic liver function in intact rats and in the modelling of toxic hepatitis].

A course of silicic sapropel applications compared to calcareous sapropel induced a reversible fall of total lipid concentration in blood serum of intact rats. Sapropels of different kinds and of the same kind but obtained from different depths of the same deposit varied by their ability to correct hepatic function in rats with toxic hepatitis. The highest benefit was registered in application of carbonate sapropels taken from the depth of 1.5-2.5 m.

[The characteristics of the mechanism of action in the joint use of solutions of brine and mud extracts with galvanization and ultrasonic exposure. 2].

Radionuclide tracing has demonstrated that intraperitoneal introduction of natural brine and mud solutions to intact rats followed by ultrasound versus galvanization provides more intensive delivery of chemical elements to the target organs and tissues. These differences should be taken into account when planning rehabilitation schemes with various physiotherapeutic modalities.

[The anti-arrhythmic effect of the electrophoresis of a natural shirsal preparation in the 2nd-stage rehabilitation of myocardial infarct patients].

Experimental and clinical trials of antiarrhythmic effect of shirsal (natural salt of lake Shira mineral water) have shown that rehabilitation complex including shirsal electrophoresis is beneficial for MI patients with arrhythmia. Shirsal electrophoresis extends indications for sanatorium treatment of MI patients with stable angina of effort (functional class III-IV), grade I-IV arrhythmia, chronic circulatory insufficiency.

[The morphofunctional validation of the use of vibration-traction for the correction of contractures of the joints].

Experiments in modelling joint contracture have shown that vibrotracture with step-by-step frequency rise in one procedure and discrete rise in traction power in the course of procedures may correct joint contracture. Basing on these experimental findings, the authors have developed highly effective method of vibrotraction treatment of joint contractures (patent N 1804819).
