Complications of knee joint arthroscopy.
Two iatragenic complications, granuloma formation in the fat pad, and fat pad herniation through the extensor fascia, occurred in a 20-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man. Granuloma formation may be induced by deposits of talc in the fat pad. Fat pad excisional surgery and repair of the hernia are generally effective.

Ski boot compression syndrome.
The extensor tendons and peroneal nerve can be compressed at the ankle by the tongue of the ski boot. The resulting neuritis and synovitis may be severe enough to mimick an anterior compartment syndrome. Treatment consists of conservative methods but the paresthesiae may remain for long periods of time.

Delayed repair of a ruptured pectoralis major muscle.
A repair of the pectoralis major avulsion injury to the tendinous insertion into the humerus was successfully performed 6 months after the initial injury. The critical clinical observation was the presence of some intact tendon. In order to properly test for the presence of this tendon, it is necessary to abduct the arm so an attenuated band will be under tension. The presence of any remaining tendon is a favorable factor in consideration of delayed repair of this injury because it may have prevented full retraction of the muscle mass.

An unusual presentation of pigmented villonodular synovitis.
A case of multiple joint and tendon involvement by PVS seems not to have been preciously reported. In a 7-year-old girl there were other organ system problems usually not seen with PVS, and the entire complex may represent a more generalized disease process. The diffuse form of the disease was refractory to multiple attempts at surgical excision. The similarities between PVS and synovial hemangioma suggest that it is important to establish the diagnosis after the first operation.
