[Vibrations as an experimental factor affecting intestinal resorption].

The authors treated white rats daily at one and the same time for a period of one hour with vibrations. One of the groups of animals were treated with vibrations and examined after that, but the other two groups were treated respectively for 45 and 90 days. Examination was carried out during vibration, immediately after that and three hours after the vibrations. They used the method of the turned bags of Wilson and Waisman, by means of which they checked the resorption of glucose through the intestinal wall in vitro, it was established that during continuous vibration action the values of the resorption glucose were statistically lower than those of the control group. There were statistically significant differences in the values of the resorbed glucose in the subgroups examined during the vibration immediately and there hours after that. The authors discuss the obtained results in the light of the current concepts for the action of vibrations as a stress factor and their influence on intestinal resorption.

Changes in blood-serum enzymes in rheumatic myocarditis.

Serum activity analyses of nine enzymes [CPK, HBDH, SDH, ALP, GPT, GOT, LDH, MDH, ALD] in patients with rheumaitc carditis revealed certain elevations of the mean values of LDH, GOT, HBDH, GPT, ALP and MDH. These changes have no particular diagnostic importance because similar findings were also obtained in patients with both rheumatic and nonrheumatic arthritis. The changes occurring during antirheumatic treatment are minimal and statistically not significant. Greater elevations of LDH, ALD, GOT, HBDH, GPT, MDH, and ALP are found in patients with decompensated rheumatic heart disease associated with active rheumatic carditis.

[Character of the rheumatic heart lesions in the current treatment and prevention of rheumatism].

An analysis and assessment of the character of heart lesions, their severity, development and influence by the contemporary complex antirheumatic treatment is performed on 1147 rheumatic patients. It was concluded that due to the organized struggle and prophylaxis of rheumatism as well as the timely diagnosis and early and complex antirheumatic treatment with the inclusion of relatively high doses of corticohormones, the rheumatic attacks develop lightly with a predominant affect of myocardium but to a light degree.

[Inverse dynamics in atrioventricular conduction in rheumatic myocarditis].

ECG changes in 1000 patients were studied, 950 with rheumatic disease attack and 150 controls with other diseases. The phenomenon of increase dynamics in AV conduction is established in 67% of ECG in the group of rheumatic patients with attacks, characterizied by inverse non-physiological correlations between heart frequency and atrioventricular conduction. With heart frequency acceleration--AV conduction time (PQ) is lengthened and vice versa--in slowing down of heart frequency--the conduction time PQ is shortened. In the control groups its frequency ranges between 3 to 8%. In healthy individuals and vegetoneurosis it can be isolated met. That inverse dynamics of AV conduction marks the pathophysiological and electrophysiological changes in myocardium in rheumatism and is of high diagnostic value.

[Study of glucose resorption during rhythmic protein feeding in a chronic experiment on white rats].

In three experimental groups of white rats receiving cacein in the morning, at noon and at night, over a period of one month, glucose resorption was studied in the hours of casein alimentation. The method of accumulating preparation from the mucosa "in vitro" was employed, and parallel to glucose resorption, maltase activity was also investigated. The results obtained are discussed in the light of modern concepts on membranous digestion and active transport, and more particularly, on interactions of the monomers at membrane level. Interpretation is made of the marked resorption of glucose, observed in the experimental group receiving casein at noon, and the possibility of practical application of the results recovered in rational dietetic nutrition is discussed.
