[Urea and urea combinations in psoriasis].

In the treatment of psoriasis with urea and urea-combined preparations, the individual sequence should be so clearly prescribed such that acceptance is assured. Treated skin should be protected by a spray bandage.

Ultraviolet irradiation increases serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D in vitamin-D-replete adults.

The production of vitamin D metabolites in response to ultraviolet irradiation has been studied in 5 control subjects and 8 patients with psoriasis; both groups responded similarly. Significant increases within the normal range were observed for serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D; these increases were negatively related to the initial concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D and 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D increased linearly over the 21 days of study, the production of 25-hydroxyvitamin D being negatively correlated with its own initial concentration. The changes in vitamin D metabolism were accompanied by significant rises within the normal ranges in serum inorganic phosphorus and in urinary calcium. These results indicate the variation of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D occurs in vitamin-D-replete adults and that this variation is probably responsible for the observed alterations in calcium and phosphorus metabolism.

[25-Hydroxycholecalciferol and UV therapy of psoriasis].

In the group of Psoriasis-patients which we examined, the plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol concentration was decreased. After an UVA/UVB radiation the increase was highly significant (p less than 0.0001). This observation together with further reported results (phosphorus, calcium) in the serum and in the urine let us suggest a connection between the Psoriasis disease, the Vitamin D metabolism, and the calcium and phosphate metabolism in the human organism.

[Normolipemic xanthomatoses. a case of xanthoma disseminatum (author's transl)].

A short summary of normolipemic xanthomatoses is exposed. A case of xanthoma disseminatum is reported. The typical clinical picture is described and numerous investigations are recorded. No association with any systemic disorder neither diabetes insipidus nor rheumatoid arthritis could be found. Histologically the granulomas consist of many multinuclear giant cells embedded in an infiltration of histiocytic cells and lymphocytes. Fat staining demonstrates lipid accumulation as a secondary phenomenon. Systemic corticosteroid therapy was effective in preventing the regrowth of the granulomas after their surgical removal.
