Patient-focused care (PFC) has been around for years and has been written about extensively. A survey conducted by Hospitals magazine in February 1993 indicated that nearly one half of all US hospitals were implementing or considering some type of PFC. But what does it mean to be patient focused? What can you expect if you become patient focused? What is the role of PFC in light of managed care and emerging integrated delivery systems?
