Impacted canine teeth.

To correct pathologic conditions and to prevent future problems, all supernumerary, impacted, and malposed teeth should be evaluated with prospects of providing an anatomically acceptable solution. Through logical clinical and radiologic resources, localication of the malpositioned structure is possible. Correction or control of the affected tooth may follow the tenets of deft, delicate, and accurate surgery in consultation with an orthodontist, a cooperative relationship based on mutual respect.

Inpatient hospital dentistry.

Inpatient hospital dentistry has been reviewed. The expanding role of the hospital as a focal point for dental treatment of the healthy as well as medically compromised patient has been emphasized. A portion of this article has been devoted to admission and discharge procedures for the dental inpatient. The hospital chart is seen as the only instrument and record of the patient management and thus the various parts of the chart have been outlined. A review of the common laboratory tests useful to dentist and physician alike is included in this section. It is hoped that the material contained herein will serve as a guide to the general dentist or specialist who may utilize the hospital to admit patients.

Case 11, Part 2. Angiokeratoma corporis diffusum (Fabry's disease).

A case of Fabry's disease is reported. The patient had multiple supernumerary, impacted, and unerupted teeth and other developmental abnormalities of the facial skeleton. The patient tolerated surgical removal of impacted and unerupted teeth without complications. However, this did not relieve the facial pain. The expected prognosis of this patient will be a continued vascular and renal degeneration with death probable before the age of 50 years if the disease is untreated. Currently, the patient is being considered as a possible candidate for renal transplantation.
