Rorschach blends, IQ, and the effect of R.

A correlation of .351 was found between the Rorschach blend score and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Full Scale IQ (WAIS FSIQ) score for 70 outpatients. When the total number of responses (R) was partialed out, however, the correlation dropped to .255. We concluded that it is advisable to take into account the effects of R in validity studies showing significant but low correlations. The importance of further exploring the psychological implications of R was stressed.

Similar Rorschach patterning in three cases of anorexia nervosa.

The Rorschachs of three cases of ambulatory anorexia nervosa patients showed striking quantitative and qualitative similarities. Analysis of the patterning prompted a diagnosis of conversion hysteria with repressed orality as the suspected dynamism. It was suggested that the Rorschach might prove useful for diagnosing this hysteroid subgroup of patients for the purpose of differential treatment.

The projective process: inferences derived from structural analysis.

It is hypothesized that projection is an organizational process involving a synthesis of psychological functions which results in a response which in uniquely representative of a class of important psychological experiences. Implications of this interpretation are discussed.
