[Vaginal fibromas (author's transl)].
The author describes the characteristics of vaginal fibromas, as observed in one personal case and after a rview of the published literature. These tumors, which affect women during the period of genital activity, are not of frequent occurrence, and the principal signs are dyspareunia and metrorrhagia. The histological appearance of the tumours is very similar to that of uterine fibromas, but their pathogenicity appears to be different, and they progress in a similar manner to that of benign tumors. Because of the existence of a cleavage line they can be easily enucleated, the main therapeutic problem being the choice of the surgical approach to be employed.
[Genital prolapse and ureteropelvic distension].
In the last 110 cases of genital prolapse examined, IVU formed part of the prior urological investigation. 14 cases of ureteropelvic distension were thus discovered (13.6% of cases). In ten cases the prolapse was sufficiently largee as to exterioris the uterus or bring it to of the vulva. In 13 cases out of 15 a larg cystocoele was visible at the vulva with a full bladder. The precise urological consequences of these prolapses was greater than had been expected: 13 cases of incomplete vesical retention, 4 of unilateral ureteropelvic distension and 10 bilateral, including 3 only symmetrical. Bilateral high distension was in general associated with a large cystocoele. Severe renal insufficiency was seen in only one case, and 5 moderate elevations in blood urea, in 5 cases. The mechanism of such ureteropelvicalyceal distension is not clear, but the prolapse is directly responsible, since mechanical (insertion of a pessary) or surgical reduction of the prolapse restores the upper excretory tract to normal. Renal function recovered all the more rapidly when the prolapse had been present for a shorter time.
[Leiomyoma of the vagina: a report on 2 cases (author's transl)].
Two recent cases of vaginal fibroma are reported. These rare lesions are benign, and symptoms, often absent during the early stages, are due to compression from the growing tumor. Treatment is always surgical, the only problem being the most effective approach. This is either by the upper or lower route, depending on the location of the tumor.
[Acute pancreatitis and post-traumatic pseudocysts of the pancreas. Report of 12 cases (author's transl)].
The authors report 12 personal cases and a bibliographic study showing the authenticity of acute pancreatitis and pancreatic pseudo-cyst following trauma. The clinico-pathological aspects, the course and the treatment are not specific. The medico-legal aspect is the most important for the secondary or late manifestations raise the problem of the imputability to the accident. Surgeons and judicial experts should be aware of the post-traumatic risk.
[Retroperitoneal haematomas in patients receiving anticoagulants. Therapeutic indications. One case (author's transl)].
Despite the customary absence of any preexistent lesion, aetiological studies should not be neglected, in particular intravenous pyelography and, above all, angiography. Wilst an attitude of therapeutic abstention has been the rule up to the present time, the indications of treatment may be modified in the absence of a local cause: - the small retroperitoneal haematoma benefits most from medical treatment; - surgical treatment should nevertheless be applied early in the case of: . large retroperitoneal haematomas, . whenever anticoagulant therapy must be maintained at all costs. . in the case of nerve compression. - Pre-operative angiography ensures selection of the safest surgical approach.
