[Preconditions for disease-specific exercise therapy].

The exercise therapy is a therapy of physiological reactions. Moving impulses can lead to direct or indirect functional reactions in different systems (i.e. neuromotor, cardiovascular etc.). As an aim within the therapy, exercise is used either under adaptive substituting or compensatory relieving. In order to reach economic and effective functional results, many aspects have to be considered many aspects, such as executing-, planning- and control criteria. They are demonstrated by means of selected samples of diseases and injuries of the locomotor apparatus.

Functional activity of immune cells in female MS-patients.

Since the well documented immunological disturbances in patients suffering from multiple sclerosis are especially attributed to T-cells we felt it expedient to look also for the functional activity of lymphocytes, monocytes, granulocytes and natural killer cells in the peripheral blood of female MS-patients (n = 17) and healthy controls (n = 17). While MS-patients showed decreased levels of total lymphocytes, CD2(+)- and CD8(+)-cells the percentage of HLA-DR(+)-monocytes was increased, indicating a high activity level of these immune cells, whereas we could find no differences in the functional tests of monocytes, granulocytes and natural killer cells between MS-patients and healthy controls. The percentage of HLA-DR(+)-T-lymphocytes increased with the duration of the illness and support the stronger consideration of clinical staging.

[Reaction of peripheral veins and arteries following administration of beta-active agents. Studies on isoproterenol, propranolol, and practolol].

The local effect on veins and arteries of isoprenaline, propranolol and practolol was investigated in the human after intra-arterial application at the forearm. The injection of isoprenaline was followed by a dilatation of the arteries and veins. This effect was inhibited by propranolol, but not by practolol. The results demonstrate, that the peripheral vasoactive beta-stimulatory effect is mediated by so-called beta2-receptors, which were not influenced by a selective beta1-blocking agent like practolol. The results were discussed in respect to their clinical relevance.

[Effects of various load intensities in the framework of postoperative stationary endurance training on performance deficit of the quadriceps muscle of the thigh].

The development of a muscular hypertrophy represents one of the most important purpose in a postoperative training. With the example of an isokinetic training the present study was meant to record if the choice of the load intensity is of importance in this connection. 36 patients with an anterior crucial ligament rupture, who were divided into three groups, underwent a stationary training for a period of four weeks. Thereby it could be proved that high intensity mainly influences the intramuscular coordination while the load intensity is far less relevant to the influence on a muscular cross-section. In this connection rather the total extent of practice time makes up the specific stimulus for a hypertrophy.
