[The extension of retinoblastoma into neighboring structures].

Fourteen cases with retinoblastoma has been histologic studied. In eleven cases of them has been observed the invasion in the neighbour structures following the tumoral mass development: four cases in the vitreous, one case in the vitreous and the choroid, sclera and the optic nerve, one case in the vitreous choroid and optic nerve, two cases in the optic nerve. The tumoral invasion in the neighbour structures was observed only at the undifferentiated retinoblastoma.

[Recurrent palpebral keratoacanthoma].

One female patient in seventy-four years old presents one hyperkeratotic neoformation which covers upper eyelid, external canthus, lower eyelid in external part and palpebral fissure of the right eye. The affection appeared fifteen years ago. The extirpation was made eight years ago, relapsed and established one corneal ulcer. Extirpation of tumoral formation first of deeper eyelid and than of lower eyelid with cutaneous free skin graft it practised. Anatomopathological exam confirms the diagnosis of keratoacanthoma with acanthosis, hyperkeratosis and dyskeratosis of pluristratified epithelium. The basal membrane, is preserved, but it is masked here and there by an discreet chronic inflammatory process. It insists over the differential diagnosis with spinocellular epithelioma, the patient remaining in observation.

[Adenocarcinoma of Moll's glands].

A Moll gland adenocarcinoma case is presented. The female patient was 47 years old and the affection was localized at the inferior eyelid. The histopathological exam shows the presence of intense eosinophil cells with gland-shape disposition. The histopathological exam was necessary both for the diagnosis and for the establishment of the degree of differentiation of the tumour, emphasizing the extension of infiltration localization for the neighbouring structures.

[Anatomicopathological studies in retinoblastoma].

For a fifteen-years period it has been examined fourteen cases with retinoblastoma, twelve of them have been undifferentiated forms and two cases differentiated forms in rosette, in undifferentiated retinoblastoma has been observed low size cells with poor cytoplasm and big nucleus that occupied near the whole cell; the nucleus to cytoplasm ratio is increased. The cellular density is irregular and most important perivascular. The tumoral parenchyma is condensed in perivascular areas, the tumoral stroma is poor, amorphous or mucinous. The necrosis areas are frequently but very import out in undifferentiated retinoblastoma. The tumoral vascularity is increased. In some cases occur melanin pigment that belong to the pigment epithelium without the existence of tumoral proliferation.

Bioactive polymers XXXIII. Synthesis and evaluation of some pharmacological characteristics of chloramphenicol immobilized on Biozan R.

The coupling of chloramphenicol on Biozan R (Hercules) by activation with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide was studied. The esterification is influenced by the chloramphenicol/dicyclohexylcarbodiimide ratio, concentration of the reactants and reaction time. The Biozan R-chloramphenicol system containing 15% chloramphenicol was used to obtain ophthalmic ointments. They were studied from the point of view of their physicochemical and biological properties. Tests were performed on animals and volunteers to establish the ophthalmic tolerance; some clinical observations on treated eyes were also made.

Synthesis of purine and pyrimidine bases and nucleosides under the cold plasma conditions (IX).

Living-matter precursors are obtained by the action of the high-frequency electrical discharges on a methane-ammonia-water mixture. Some purine and pyrimidine bases as well as nucleosides are detected and estimated quantitatively by column chromatography, one- and two-dimensional paper chromatography, paper chromatography with standard addition, colour tests as well as by optical density measurement within the UV region.

[The invasion of neighboring structures in malignant choroid melanoma].

It has been followed the microscopical evolution of the malignant melanoma of the choroid. After a stage of local growth, often with necrosis and intratumoral haemorrhages, it invades the neighbouring structures. The invasion of retina is produced at the apex level, making a breach in Bruch's membrane, the tumour becomes likewise a dumb-bell, a mushroom or a clepsydra. When the tumour is in contact with the retina, it produces a proliferation of pigmentary tumoral cells, glial cells and lymphoplasmocytary inflammatory reaction, which emphasize the sensorial retina detachment. The sclera invasion takes place especially in plaqued melanoma, through the points of minimal resistance which are the nervous routes, breaking up the scleral structures. The appearance of rudimentary vessels, with tumoural cells in lumen, constitutes a serous prognostic because of tumoural embolisms.

[Hemorrhagic glaucoma].

The hemorrhagic glaucoma defines a clinical syndrome which recognizes as a frequent symptoms the hemorrhagic element, and from the morphopathological point of view the presence of some neoformation vessels at the level of the iris and camerular angle. 22 clinical observations of hemorrhagic glaucoma which appeared during one year are analyzed. It is shown that the new vessels appear as a reaction of the tissues hypoxemia and especially to alon of the oxygen pressure that determines the increase of the vessels. Also in the hemorrhagic glaucoma appears a deficiency of the venous reaction which determines a deficiency of the venous flow. The new vessels appear because of the hypoxemia and acid lactic accumulation only as the presence of a vital iridian tissue, because the new vessels do not appear in necrotic tissues.

[Persistence of the primordial vitreous body and buphthalmos].

Persistence of the hyperplasic primordial vitreous body is determined by a deletion of embryonal development of the vitreous body and of the hyaloid vascular system. Infant aged 3.5 years presents persistence of primordial vitreous body with crystalline dislocation in the camera aquosa and secondary buphthalmos of the left eye and microphthalmos with dislocation of the crystalline in the vitreous body of the right eye. At the back of the right eye we noticed a whitish mass, richly vascularized with vestiges from the hyaloid artery, but the posterior half of the vitreous cavity is filled with microscopic blood; the fibrovascular membrane is made of conjunctive tissue set in parallel layers and vessels with macrolipophagic degeneration. Microscopic investigation of retina reveals glial hyperplasia zones in the neighbourhood of the vitreous body. In the present paper the authors show the persistence of the primordial vitreous body in the left eye and bilateral dislocation of the crystalline, revealing multiple ocular malformations.

[Giant-cell retinal dysplasia in microphthalmos].

Six-year-old girl presents unilateral moderate microphthalmos. After enucleation ocular histopathological exam shows multiple ocular structures anomalies at both anterior and posterior poles; the most important anomalies were localised at the level of retina, vitreous, and iridocorneal angle, and they were represented by retinal dysplasia with giant cells, persistence of the primitive vitreous, congenital cataract, Rieger syndrome.

[The ultramicroscopic aspects in malignant choroidal melanoma].

The survey focuses on the observation using the electronic microscope of two cases of uveal malignant melanoma. The ultrastructure of the cellular population which from this type of malignant tumour was followed, mentioning both the common and the particular aspects. The nuclear and nucleolar modifications, indicating an increase degree of atypia for the epithelioid cells compared with the fusiform cells, were observed. Some aspects of the abnormal tumoural cells were also emphasized. We noticed in the structure of the tumours, besides the tumoural cells, another structure of non-tumoural macrophage and reticular cells, and we described their ultrastructure.
